Thank you for the entertaining video. As a married man, I can appreciate the playful husband and wife banter. It’s an unfair comparison, but I prefer my A7iii over my Nikon D5200 Costco kit. I’m currently having blast capturing videos and stills of my family on holiday in San Diego.
that shallow depth of field is distracting. F4 would’ve been enough.
One thing that maybe wasn’t addressed was the sensors on mirrorless tend to get dirty fast. At least that’s been my experience and I really dislike that aspect. Your sensor cleaning video saved me though.
For me it only comes down to live view autofocus and video autofocus. My D850 live view autofocus gives me the equivalent of road rage. Other than that I love both cameras. I trust my Nikon more for weddings but I think that’s because I’m so use to it and have been using Nikon for years. My A7riii I actually use more by looking at the lcd screen and not through the viewfinder. This has been so much better for photographing during newborn shoots or anything where you need to get low to the ground such as the flower girl coming down the aisle etc. I trust Sony’s autofocus much more for this style of shooting and it doesn’t enrage me lol. I tend to shoot my Sony more because it’s features allow me to focus more on composition than the camera. An example would be eye detect autofocus allows me to compose a portrait without constantly focusing and re-composing.
I bought the A7Rii after I had the Nikon D810 for a year. The D810 was a pain to use for landscape photography because the mirror had to be locked up to avoid vibration and that required both setting up mirror-up and an extra push of the release. And I often had to take additional photos to make adjustments because what I saw through the OVF wasn’t was I got in the photo. After using these two cameras side by side a few times, I quit using the D810 and later sold all of my Nikon gear.
I agree that the ergonomics of the Nikon D810 are superior, and I hope Nikon is successful with their introduction of a mirrorless camera, but I’m not interested in adapted lenses–even Nikon lenses adapted to a Nikon mirrorless camera (Why would they have to develop new lenses if their DSLR lenses work just as well?)–so I won’t jump back to Nikon for at least a few years, and then only if they have a better camera system than the alternatives.
Should I switch from Sony to Nikon I have the a6000 with 3 lenses I’m looking at the Nikon d7200 I shoot wildlife there is a new lens coming soon for Sony the 200-600 should I wait for that or switch or maybe wait for 3rd party long telephoto lenses
how’d you get sony AND nikon to sponsor you?
Grear review and I see no need to buy a Sony since I have premium Nikon glass! I’ll buy the D850 to help out my D500 as a spare and backup.
I’m a Landscape and Nature Photographer, and I own the D850 and love it. Having the Focus Shift (Focus Stacking feature is a BIG PLUS for me. Being able to shoot in silent mode is also a Big Plus. The wide Dynamic Range in the D850 when shooting landscapes is great and delivers excellent images.
Out of curiosity, would you say this A7 R III is a better camera than the Alpha 9? Seems that not so long ago every reviewer out there was praising that like nothing before.
When stabilising adapted lenses, you have to go through the menu and tell the camera which focal length it is, otherwise you get the wrong amount of sensor movement.
i bought a sony a7III. now im starting to wish i got the a7RIII hahahaha
Mirrorless Vs DSLR LAST FIGHT
How about theA9 also I have never heard anybody review the light.
Nikon wins always..sony losers..
Guys, that shot of the eagle holding the whitefish was downright fricken beautiful! Solid work!
Sony for the autofocus
I like these two guys
Bigger is usually better till you start getting older and carry as much gear as you use to.
Can we stop the adapter conversation forever, you simply use the native lenses, period, don’t understand why people are still adapting, which made their lives missable
The ergonomics on the Sony is the only reason I will not turn to sony. These are professional bodies and with professional lenses (70-200 and such) it’s unusable for me on long shoots. It doesn’t matter how many X’s the Sony’s got. If the ergos don’t improve, I will not purchase.
