If you get a new camera every year or so i could see getting the Sony but for people that keep cameras longer the Nikon is the one to get. I did a big corporate job and while i was wattling to get paid i was planing on buying a Sony . When the check arrived and i was about to order it something happen . I realized that i did’t care about all the small features that made the Sony look better on paper. I needed a camera that was going to be there for years and I didn’t have confidence in Sony as camera company.
Waiting for the first Nikon FF mirrorles in August.
Have nothing to add and nothing to write which just happened. It’s a wash depending on what you shot and like 🙂
Nikon sux cause you need to carry 2 cameras. One camera for photos, and then a Sony/Panasonic for video.
You might as well just use the Sony in the first place so that you only need one camera.
I got the A7RIII. Manly because I already had some Sony lenses. I don’t regret my decision at all, it’s a fantastic camera. I agree that it’s very good for night photography, but when it’s really dark, the electronic viewfinder is basically a patch of colorful dots, wasn’t easy to get the blood moon in focus last week.
The Sony A7RIII is the camera I own. Mirrorless systems have so many advantages. I own about 15 legacy lenses, Canon, Konica, Nikon, Olympus and Takumar – I can adapt seemingly everything ever made – it’s wonderful. I wish it had a flippy screen like my Olympus Pen F, but the 850 dosen’t either… Your channel is one of my faves – keep up the good work. P.S. Chelsea is lots prettier than, oh say, Jared Polin or Ken Wheeler!
The Sony is more prone to getting dust on the sensor when changing lenses. As with The Nikon the sensor is protected by the mirror.
A7r3 drops to 12bit raw when shooting at 10fps. For 14bit you need to be shooting uncompressed at 8fps.
Please fix the hizzz noise! I’m mean in later videos… It’s really bad in this one! AND WHAT THE HELL DID YOU JUST SAY IN THE END ABOUT PRICE?????????????????????????????????????? “The bodies are similar priced”?? WHAT???? In Denmark the Nion D850 is equivalent to 4695 USD for the body… And the Sony A7III is equivalent to 2798 USD for the body alone!!! What the HELL!!!!!!!
Menu systems? Flash systems? IMHO Sony is a consumer electronics company not a camera company.
So the winner is Nikon.
I thought I’d add a comment for the sake of interest. I found the video interesting. I knew you guys like the digital viewfinder, but I have a mirrorless and D610 and I prefer to use the D610 because of the optical viewfinder because the digital viewfinder is jarring to look at. Also the Sony system is expensive to get into. I was considering it, but left the idea when I checked lens prices. Also my DSLR doesn’t loose batterylife when inactive. At least not in the same rate. Hope you found it interesting. Love your vids.
The in-body stabilization in sony cameras is terrible if you are using adapters (like I do), specially for video. I have never had stabilization actually ruin a good photo or clip until I started to shot with a sony with adapted lens.
😂 you’re using a Canon to film this, that’s funny
Nice work guys.
I have the A7R3 and I like it a lot – but I still find myself reaching for my Nikon’s (D750, D4 and D810) over it…. not 100% sure why, it may be familiarity, but I just have more confidence in my Nikon’s – unless I’m shooting video.
Switching from Canon to Nikon is way harder than from Canon to Sony…part of what drove my own decision…
1:24 Ahhh the age-old rivalry between 2 names: NIC-kon and NAI-kon
Hi guys, first. THANK YOU! Love your videos. As another here said, you use the equipment and you give some far better reviews. Instead of just Tech information. As you both kept saying you felt like you were missing something…. Because it is not always as simple as who wins on just the tech stuff. I am getting started and moved from the Canon t5i. To now using the Canon 80d. Kept my lenses, but now wanting to have an alternative. I was leaning toward Sony. But the other factors Tony and Chelsea kept bringing up. Like silent shooting easy grip and access to controls and time delay shots, I never considered until now, gave me a lot to think about. Now… I am actually leaning to the Nikon. Thanks!
You forgot that with an adapter Sony can use not only Nikon”s vast array of lenses but also Canon’s, with an adapter for Canon lenses. Check for Sony!
I never would have believed that a Sony would out trick a Nikon. But times have changed!
Ps; I am a Sony user with a G Master lens!
