I am seriously considering between these two. Two major issue I have with my D800 which I doubt have been solved with the D850 is a) focusing at night which is horribly difficult by either zooming in in live view mode or simply through the view finder. Sony beats Nikon hands down in that respect b) the LCD monitor! what do you do when you have to shoot low, you have to practically go lying on the ground with the D800 and now with the D850, screen tilts alright but it does not swivel like the Sony’s.
Nikon! Soley because the used market support… being able to buy an extensive amount of Used Native Nikon and Sigma-Nikon lenses. In Fullframe Stills, I would choose the Nikon everyday of the week! (Im a Canon shooter thats envious of nikon… xD Much rather have the D850 over the 5D4… Iv really grown to hate Canons tippy toe-ing over their Camera lineup and holding themselves back… While Nikon is over here Kicking some serious ass… :'[ )
2.33 “huevos” ????
I’m just aprehensive about the flange distant of mirrorless camera. You either need a very intense converging or diverging rear element to focus onto the sensor pane as compared with DSLR. A good lense would then bulky or heavy coz you really need to shorten the focal point along the principle axis. Light angle hitting the outer edge of the sensor would be really oblique too. Would those outer pixel preceives the photons similarly as those more centralized? Seems to me there may be a physical constraint.
What about build quality? I’m a Sony shooter and I am OVERLY cautious when I’m out shooting in the field because Sony’s just feel so breakable, I feel like if I drop it or bump it it’s just gonna shatter into a million pieces. Nikon and Canon DSLR’s don’t have that issue, they’re so well built and sturdy and not to mention more climate resistant. I’ve been seriously considering swapping out my Sony for the d850!
If ya turn off the sound, and just watch Chelsea’s face … pretty amusing! You two are great!! 🙂
Both sensors are Sony right?
I live near the ocean and the weatherproofing on the D850 is a must.
Nikon d850 wins for me just because I currently shoot D800, now. So I have all Nikon glass. LISTEN to YOUR WIFE more.
I’m trying to like the a7r3 because I’m in the market for a ff camera and it’s up to $900 cheaper than the D850, BUT I am yet to see a sample from the Sony camera that is impressive. Some samples are just OK, but no better than my D7000 or 5600 could achieve, and many are underwhelming. whereas I’ve seen many from the Nikon that are very good to superb. Obviously the lens is important with most, if not all the superb shots being taken with Zeiss makro 100/2, but overall the Nikon seems to produce more naturally accurate images. While I’m happy as a historical Nikon shooter, it means I might have to wait until I can afford a D850.
You still have to bring a usb cord to charge the a7… still counts as a charger
dat eagle doe
Nikon all the way!
The Nikon is more dependable, with lenses and battery life.
I just purchased the A7Riii and the biggest deciding factors for me were; Nikon has changed lenses with their new mirrorless cameras. So you’d have to buy lenses and use an adapter in the near future unless you already own Nikon glass. Sony seems to be moving forward with innovation very quickly. So not only are you buying lenses for today’s cameras but your buying lenses that you can put on upgraded cameras in the future. In body stabilization is awesome. Eye autofocus is awesome. Also Nikon doesn’t seem to reduce their prices, Sony came out with the A7iii for around 2k. And Sony reduces the prices of their more dated cameras. Seems like Nikon and Canon just stop producing older cameras, or at least don’t reduce them as much as Sony. Anyway, just my thought process in picking a new system and moving away from Canon.
Tough call, but I’d “lean” towards the Nikon, because I like their menus better, and I think is easier to navigate.
I hope you compare the Image quality of A7lll and the Nikon Z6 thanks in advance 😊🙏🏾
just poised to buy; totally helpful… #appreciated
I think the points you covered were great and awarded to the right camera but I Believe that the areas in which the the Nikon excelled are more import . Most people will only have the one camera system so you need to ask your self if I could chose only 1 which would it be. Ps no loyalty here I shoot canon.
Funny Nikon 850 sensor’s made by Sony https://www.dpreview.com/news/1234108119/nikon-d850-sensor-confirmed-as-sony-made
Sony lenses are to much money and limited
