That eagle shot.. good grief.
Who wears the pants in this relationship?
Waiting on the new Canon 5DSR Mark II
These 2 ladies .. always so cheeky …
May I suggest scoring each category for each camera then adding up the totals rather than using an “X” to mark who won. Since there were several that were close, having a score would be more informative 🙂
Sony for EVF, small form factor & videography/filmmaking, hands down. Nikon for everything else.
What Canon was used to film this? Because truly I loved the video quality.
I’ve used my Nikon d750 for years for video in my business. So I was excited to step up to a d850. But on one of my first gigs shooting a LIVE dance performance, a message popped up on the screen saying the recording had been interrupted! I nearly crapped myself. I captured the first four minutes of the dance and that was it. I called Nikon and, after a lot of hemming and hawing (nobody seemed to know what the problem was…until the guy I was talking to replicated the problem with a d850 on the other end of the phone). I love the images the camera creates for video and I wanted someone at Nikon to tell me the problem had been addressed, but they couldn’t be bothered to assuage me. They just said, “You should send the camera back.” So I did. I can’t have failures like that during one-of-a-kind live performances and events. I was disappointed that Nikon couldn’t be bothered to address a real problem from a devoted Nikon shooter. (Meanwhile, my two d750 continue to perform like champs.)
Hi I’ve just found a way to transfer or view photos via the cameras USB “A7R3” port direct to Tablet PC “in my case Samsung S2” Without removing the memory card/s from the camera
Parts required:
1/ The cameras USB micro to A lead, “the normal PC / charging lead”.
2/ A UGREEN FBA_10396 Micro USB Adapter OTG Cable (Black)
“Mine from Amazon £5.99”
3/ Samsung tab app [X-Plore] A Free download utility
Open X-Plore in Tab
Connect the OTG cable to cam USB lead. Switch on cam! The camera goes USB mode.
In the X-Plore Utility Click CANCEL as default connection.
The X-Plore see’s the camera as a Sony USB drive. Open folder View or copy files directly to your tab.
This also worked with My NEX7 and Mini USB lead.
Please pass this on Tony / Chelse
Sony was my choice to move too, but once i had it in my hand, my hand did not fit with the flange on the lenes of the sony, i really wish that would solve that! stayed with canon as main camera and went fuji after some harsh testing,, happy with weight and small savings with the fuji day to day,
One thing to consider is that Nikon has a much better range of cheaper, entry-level cameras. While the d850 and the a7R are both very similar cameras, they’re both out of the price range of the ‘first’ camera for a lot of people. Even if the a7R has a slight edge in some respects, it’s probably not enough to make a lot of people who have been shooting with Nikon for years to jump ship and get a whole new kit.
In other words these are both pro level cameras with pro prices, but the Sony has the added cost of having to start a whole new lens collection, while the Nikon can slide right into your existing kit that you’ve slowly built up over time.
Everything is always down to personal touch and feel and what you want or expect from the image.
What about the color science, no one really compares them !?
If I could get the money to buy either one, I’d go sny, and most of it is due to the things that help me to get the shot I want through the EVF – focus peaking and checking for exposure before shooting, even having the rule of thirds in my evf are some of the things I would use all the time to help me compose and ensure proper focus. After all, its the end result that matters right?
Tony, you are spot-on about the USB charging, which cannot be over-emphasized. Not only can you charge the Sony battery in-camera via USB-C or USB-Micro with any USB power source, you can use either USB port to power the camera. I use a cell-phone battery pack, something I keep charged and nearby at all times. If I forget to charge my camera batteries (and who hasn’t, at least once or twice?) I can carry the battery pack in my pocket tethered to my Riii and shoot all day long. The only caveat is the camera battery must be in the camera and it must have a partial charge.
I am disappointed in the lack of an internal timelapse, something I hope Sony will remedy with a future firmware update. For now though, I suffer the minor nuisance of using an external intervalometer (for a timelapse the camera is stationary, so adding the external device isn’t really a big deal.) I use the intervalometer in USB-Micro while using a 13,000mAh battery pack in USB-C to get thousands of uninterrupted sequential shots.
What would you suggest for someone who hasn’t bought into one system yet? Would you say mirrorless (Sony, Nikon) is the way to go or would you recommend a DSLR (Nikon)?
Edit: I want to take stills. Taking videos is not important for me. It’s so confusing because there are so many options 😐
Using green screen?
What about landscape. Which would you prefer?
So basically no matter what she or anyone says, he worships the Sony and will find some reason why it’s better. Rigged. You skipped right over durability but having a few rain drops screw your camera up isn’t very pro no matter how many neat tricks your camera does.
One thing that I would’ve commented on would be the menu system.
