not gonna trust you again tony lol. your gh5 recommendation was horrible. the af failed miserably then you updated your review after i bought the camera. =(
Totally Sony biased
Tony is fan boy.
Chelsea is my girl. 😉
j/k
(but you’re a sell out Tony) 😉
But I wish I could afford to build a Sony system to the same spec as I have for my Nikon system.
I picked Sony A7III for the price, i don’t need Megapixels much and video is important + Autofocus in video soooo.
Nicely done! Nikon for one reason and for me, a BIG one: In hand ergonomics. I shoot a 5DIV with a grip and it’s a joy with a 70-200 2.8. Starting over I would be shooting the D850.
Sony is just not reliable and low quality production. They have more features on Sony and the latest Sony lenses are just optically better then Nikon or Canon
which camera and lens record this video adn was it shot in 60fps at 1080p or 4k?
A question about the third camera in this great comparison: What format/focal length/aperture are you recording with? Specifically, what’s the thinking behind such a shallow DoF that the cameras and whiteboard are only in focus when held against your chests? (I feel for the poor face-tracking AF, who seems to have a minor nervous breakdown whenever one of you leans in a few inches closer than the other!) In this situation, is closing down a few stops, and manually front-focusing an option for expanding near DoF while keeping the creamy background separation? Or is 4K just so unforgiving that even at f4 or f5.6, you’re best off choosing an eye and holding on for dear life? As a stills photog curious about video “best practice,” I’d love a look behind the scenes at how you make these framing/focusing choices. Thanks for all you do!
Both great cameras and Nikon’s ergonomics are much nicer and in the end it’s about achieving the goal of good photography. Some people will weigh ergonomics, weather sealing, heft and perceived “pro level” over other things. And others will choose portability, small form factor, ibis, etc. For me I’m happier and am able to achieve my goals better with the Sony and an EVF. Speaking from switching completely to Sony from Nikon after 20 years pro use. My only complaint with Sony now is the lack of time lapse features, lack of 14 bit lossless file compression and convoluted menus and maybe ergonomics could be a bit better. On a different note, I still think you should have given the vintage lens category to Sony. The Nikon can only adapt Nikon F lenses and the Sony on the other hand can adapt all those Nikon lenses old and new, plus Canon (old and new), Pentax, Minolta, Leica, M42,M39, Olympus, and many other older lenses. Far more lenses than Nikon can adapt. Love hearing your insights both of you! Thanks for what you do and keep up the great work!👍
What focal length and f-stop was this filmed on? its got a very flattering look on you two, I love it!
They’re just 2 great cameras, If you prefer DSLRs, go for the Nikon, Mirrorless go for the Sony.
I always appreciate the straight talk from Tony, content, and production value of the videos. I have purchased a couple of the books and always get useful insight whether reading or watching videos. But I must admit that I mostly watch for Chelsea. Just incredibly beautiful! She could make a million selling snow to an Eskimo!
There is only one choice when using super telephoto lenses to capture birds in flight. And that is Nikon. Despite having great glass and a strong resume for nature photography even Canon cannot track fast moving birds against a noncontrasty background.
I guess we are lucky to have such great equipment from different companies and competition that forces each to get better. It might take Nikon a few revs to get a great mirrorless camera but very exciting to see they are really working hard at it. With both we can take great pictures and focus on the photography and less on equipment. Thanks for this video, love your channel.
Dammit! Chelsea looks delicious in 4K!
Sony all the way now. The ergonomics SUCK the menu SUCK but the rest is better then anything Canikon has to offer.
If I were a pro, I’d go with the Nikon D850 for reliability, support, lenses and accessories available. As a rich amateur, I’d go with the Sony A7RIII. As I’m a poor amateur, I shoot with a Sony RX10.
Is sutter roll still an issue with mirrorless?
you gave battery for the sony just cuz of the usb port?! that’s an even for both.
Mirrorless vs DSLR? How about DSLD vs DSLR?
DSLD: Digital Single Lens Direct
