My Sony a7iii packed up due to being caught out in a small rain shower whilst the two colleagues i was shooting with who had Nikon and Canon had zero issues. Was told by Sony the camera wasnt designed to be exposed to those kind of conditions:).
Fact is Sony haved saved a great deal of money by scrimping on weather proofing so from a longlife and durability point of view the D850 blows Sony away.

In spite of the number of Xs you gave to the Sony, if I was in the market and had to choose it would be the tried and true Nikon. I can’t see any worthwhile difference in the photos and that is what matters.
3:05 Oooh that was a good one!
Sony ergonomics are below par. Definitely the achilles heel of the brand.
awsome and like you said at the end ot comes to the person preferences as for me i went with the sony for 3 main reasons ( 5 axis, size and the simplicity of charging and not worrry about the charger XD )
but for th dynamic range i have seen some poeple i didnt notice much of differnce with nikon 850 but its as i noticed with my friends better but i will still pick the sony for my personal preferences 😉
I’ll pick the BMPCC 4K
Hi I have a Nikon D7000 and I am looking for a upgrade just don’t really know what to get with be much appreciated of your feedback please
Conclusion: Sony for Tony and Nikon for chelsea
nikon d850, there are 10yo dslrs that are still working fine, and going strong, i don’t see a Sony lasting 10 years or more. We don’t know as well. Going with the safe bet, nikon d850.
None is better than the other. Both produce excellent images.
The first thing I noticed was how good the video looked.
D850 for me – the ergonomics and weather resistance, plus longer (and cheaper) glass suit me best as a sports photographer.
My A7rii still gets the gig for landscapes and portraits though….
The old guy in the garage door commercials? HA, I know him, GREAT guy!!!!!!
Look at that house, no wonder they can afford these cameras. I’m still using Kodak waterproof camera with film.
I think things will get interesting when Nikon launches their mirrorless. Sony has done incredible job against Nikon and Cannon. How long will Nikon support DSLR afterwards? And if a pro or consumer switches to mirrorless and have to ditch DSLR lens, will they have good reason to stick to Nikon or switch to Sony since they have to buy mostly all new equipment? Not picking favorites, just going to be interesting.
Morning, browser of comments. I ate a “Hot-n-spicy” Chicken Ramen Cup while watching this.
Hardly science, very much opinions, dslr gives a more accurate manual focus.
Swore the thumbnail was Marzia and Pewds
Both great cameras, if I had the budget and those were my options, Sony. In my budget range, I chose the Canon M50 and EOS adapter LOL
Using EVF for video is a big win. Maybe the new Nikon Mirrorless will put most of these arguments to rest.
