Something you got wrong here… if you are a full time working pro, Nikon Professional Services or NPS is far superior to Sony’s and for that matter any other professional-only support. It is free if you qualify, offers free loaners to try out new gear, priority discounted repairs that include free loaners, priority purchasing allowing NPS members to get the latest gear on the first day it’s available. Plus coverage worldwide wherever I have traveled to I can call on the local NPS and they take care of me immediately. Most importantly, the staff at NPS is unbelievable….most have been there for years, and their experience shows. They operate with a sense of urgency, and are extremely responsive with a can-do attitude at their main facility, plus dedicated regional NPS reps that can provide a local face to arrange things like long term loans, or exotic setups like a network of wireless controllers to test.
Sony does not have any repair depot in the US, they use a 3rd party, they only have support in limited countries worldwide. Granted, Nikon has been doing this for some 40 years, I assume Sony will get there someday. Finally, Nikon is the only company for which there has never been a charge to be a member of NPS. As far as I’m aware, All other camera companies charge an annual fee.
A7R2 + time-lapse app… was my choice
I gave up my a7r111 for Nikon, looking forward to the new lenses they will be releasing soon! Wildlife shooter! Still waiting for someone to come up with eye af for wildlife!
What made y’all pick the A7RIII vs the A7III? I’ve seen so many comparisons where the A7III actually comes out on top. I’m totally torn between the two at the moment and an opinion from y’all would be awesome.
All the professionals l have spoken/listened to, state the same thing…
It’s all about the lenses!!!
Lens to Lens Sony’s GM, G and certain Sony/Zeiss are second to none, hence the price.
Unless you have a freakish fetish for fish and feathers 😉
I think we are in this weird space that both are great cameras but with nikon and canon about to release their mirrorless and new mounts they are also the most ‘unstable’ eco-systems. With sony to me it seems much more clear what we will get and how things will evolve over the next 2 or 3 years….. also not really sure why you don’t add a grip extension to the a7r3 for people with bigger hands makes it so much more comfy and balanced for people with bigger hands and lenses over say 500grams…
How did you shot this video? Love that monstrous bokeh
I love my 28/1.4E, 58/1.4G & 105/1.4E so D850 for me.
where’s canon??? Oh yeah’ they only have ancient technology…
(I am a canon shooter… lol)
Great video, I really don’t think they are a good comparison. The Nikon d850 is arguably the best DSLR ever made, and the a7r3 is arguably the best mirrorless. So depending on which you prefer mirrorless or DSLR that is really what it comes down to. I have the a7r3 and love it, but I could certainly live with the d850. Really Canon should watch this and take some notes. They are turning into a lens manufacturer.
Guess who is sponsoring this video!
Two great cameras but the Nikon won mostly where it matters to photographers; handling, price, lens availability and durability.Sony is a much better video camera though. I can hardly trust mirrorless completely in a fast paced wedding environment, getting the shots is all that matters.
in terms of video and image quality how is a7riii and d850 compared to A9?
I’d go with the nikon just because if the better feeling, the better iso and noise reduction for astrophotography.
For me its very straight forward, I stick with a DSLR because of the handling. Thats the most important thing for me.
A very important point to me was low-light-focus-acquisition, because I often do such low-light-shootings. The Nikon is compatible with a focus grid, which is an amazing feature in this scenario. I dont understand why yet, but mirrorless cameras seem not to be compatible with focus grids at all… At least my fuji is not.
Im tempted by sony mirrorless but the lens prices keep me away.
Nikon mirrorless!
What camera+lens did you use to shoot this video? It looks really good.
24mp is like 4 cylinders of car. What most ppl needs. And 42mp is v8. You want but not needed
