I think apple choosing iphone 8 design for iphone se is more intentional than what we think. From what I understand from apple is that, they do not like to make a product or allow an existing product to sabotage other products sales. This is the angle i always think when people keep asking for features likes, macos on ipad or final cut on ipad (people buying macs for video editing will now buy ipads instead), full screen on iphone se (then why would anyone buy the flagship models?) etc. I think apple tries to give each product a purpose and a reason for existing that is unique to itself. Just my thoughts, no export.

If you study the SE patterns clearly it is just an updated old phone thats why Apple calls it special edition. There a lot of people out there who still love the old cosmetic look of the iphone and this is for them. After the rumored notchless iphone 14 pops out. Theyll bump it up to an updated xR watch

I think they should have used the shell of the XR or 11. That would give them the better front design and the ultra wide if they go with the 11 body. I would think they can mass produce that just as easily.
