I got your point, but they were also producing iPhone 8 Plus. Why they don’t use that body and camera system? I has a larger display, an extra camera and most importantly a bigger battery!

That formula is what allows Apple to keep the cost down. They are re-using a iPhone 8 design, about 5 years old. Remember, manufacturing costs are pretty heavy when setting up a new design, if you can use the exact same mechanical design forever it will get to the point it costs you cents. That is what Apple is doing with this SE releases. New design translate in new tooling for mechanical moldings and that cost a tons of money. It would increase the price by a lot. It would not be an SE release anymore. New design, with oled display and bigger battery would be 700 bucks

The iPhone SE is the Toyota Camry of smartphones. Not sexy, nothing special, but it’s reliable and will sufficiently get you where you need to go.

SE 2020 was my very first new iPhone I bought myself when it came out and it’s perfect, i don’t have to worry about it (cuz it’s not expensive), it does everything I need, takes great pictures, battery is enough to get me thru the day and still have like 60% left. the only weak link is the screen, but I watch all videos on my PC, which has much bigger screen than any phone, so I’m happy. probably won’t even update any time soon

Apple should make the iphone 13mini the SE and get rid of this iphone 8 reincarnation. Lower the specs of the 13mini and price… it will sell.

Apple’s part-spin formula does beg the question, what is the next older body that secures the future of the iPhone SE? Are we basically waiting for a flagship redesign so the mini’s chassis can be freed up?
