Why not call it what it is, the “Shitty Edition”. The Display alone is absolutely crappy (it isn’t even FHD) and its paired with a really old design, a shitty battery and only 4gb RAM. Apple can only be that sloppy because you (Americans) don’t get the really good and cheap phones like the redmi, realme or poco devices. For this price you should be expecting a FHD AMOLED panel with 90hz +, 8 gb RAM, at least 2 good cameras, a 4000mah+ battery, and 45W+ fast charging. What apple offers here is outrageously bad value for money and I’m bold enough to mention that (I don’t need to fear that I’m not invited to apple events 😂🤑). Why would I need a high end SOC if i can’t enjoy any games or productive applications on a good screen.

Apple is basically leveraging their chip here.
If you take out the A15 and replace it with last generation’s Snapdragon….no one is going to buy it.

The screen will be the biggest letdown in this phone and I hope people don’t fall for the performance gig one more time.

They could’ve used the body of iphone 12 mini to create a new iphone SE but they purposefully didn’t do it just because then they can’t convince people to buy iphone 13 mini

If they changed the body to match the newer models, and increased the battery, I’d actually consider getting this. But I think I’ll save for a newer one instead.

The ideal SE would have been using the iPhone X body with the OLED display, better cameras, bigger battery, more modern design and combining it with the A15 chip. Ik there were rumors of an SE 3 with the XR body but that display is just too inferior. But we all know Apple and they would obviously go with the latter than the former for an SE 4! 😒
Edit: I’ve been reading other comments suggesting the use of the 8+ or 11 body but I think those two have limitations too
8+ : phone is too big perhaps for SE customers
11 : again, much more inferior display than the X and also probably is less profitable for Apple

Apple should have put a slightly less capable processor in this phone and used the difference in cost to start upgrading everything else in the phone that lags competitor offerings. I don’t expect Apple’s best processor in their budget phone but I do expect better than this phone offers in all of the other features that lag competitor offerings. I like your thought that maybe Apple should change the phone body to allow for other upgrades.

I feel like you don’t know why Apple makes different products. You’re claiming people will be upset without having an ultra wide camera. I have the 13 Pro Max and I barely take pictures with it as a gen-z. This phone wasn’t made for top of the line geeks like ourselves. This is a business cellular device and or for the older generation that has a hard time with swipe up for a home button. It’s not always about you, it’s about the rest of the world too. Not every grandmother, business operator etc needs a beautiful magnificent camera. Apple knows their consumer market, you do not. As I mean you’re here on YouTube making videos, not back in apple working on tech.
