I’m guessing they plan to release a new iPhone SE with the iPhone 12 mini design at some point in the future. It makes a lot of sense to release a stop gap SE until the 12 mini, and probably the 13 mini (going by current rumors and current 2 year release cycle for the SE line up).

They honestly can’t change the design now because …. what do you change it to? In two years time though, they’d have the option of an 11,12, 12 mini & 13 mini as possible foundations for the new iPhone SE.

I don’t consume any media on my phone, so display is just fine. Much prefer the home button over Face ID. What I REALLY want is the latest chip so that I get maximum longevity.
Given those parameters, this phone is absolutely perfect for me. And I bet there’s a lot of other people out there like me.

couldn’t they just use the iPhone 10/X design? there is the other camera “hole” it is slightly larger – for the battery…

Have an iPhone se 2020 rn, stared with the 6 and 6s and highly dislike anything to do with Face ID. I very much appreciate the se because it has exactly what I want- a home button, smaller size and not that much change from the 6s. I have tiny hands and don’t care for extreme high quality photos. I also love how I have the iPhone 11 chip and good ran and specs so I don’t have to worry about performance no matter how much I torture it. Love everything about this phone because this phone is for people who want a good traditional iPhone without coughing up half their wallet. I’m a broke college student and this is my holy grail I won’t shut up about 🙂

If they change the body from the 8 to the more recent notch screens, then it becomes more of an XR with an A15 chip instead, so they keep it locked in at that iPhone 8 body 🤫
