I wonder what the SE’s gross margins are relative to other ~$400 phone. They must be making a killing by keeping a bunch of the old hardware while pulling A15s off the line. It would help justify why they are sticking with this particular formula of SE phones.

They are also creating a wide enough chasm between the SE and other iPhones that there’s very little risk of one cannibalizing the other. What you say about making a better SE makes sense for the consumer, but I really don’t think it’s in Apple’s interest to position something that is closer to the iPhone mini.

I think they will update the SE formfactor when thy come out with the dot and pill shape of the iphone 14. The cheaper model has to look differntly from the pro model as well front as back!

When Apple at their event was talking about a budget-friendly, small phone, I wonder if in the future the SE’s current design will be replaced by the 12 mini or 13 mini’s design once mini iPhones are removed from the lineup starting with the 14s. No objection to that, I still love my 12 mini and am waiting for Apple to kill the mini in the 14s so I can get the 13 mini for cheaper.

they should have just gave the XR an A15 bionic and called it the SE3. Its probably 400 dollars if apple sold it new
