I really want one of these cameras 8D Getting one in a few weeks or months… looking great!
Does a 70-300mm Sigma lens sound okay for this camera? I want to mostly take pictures of my pets, some wildlife (amateur), and dog shows. So I really don’t need macro that much, mostly I need to zoom a lot so I thought that’d be a great lens. Cause it’s cheap.

@JonaMo0 mf is really hard as well because the shutter locks up in video mode so you can’t use the viewfinder to focus properly

@spameister to be honest with you most cameras dont do auto focus too well. thats why you set it to “Live Mode” so you fouz before the shot, then it autofocus very slowly while shooting so you dont blur.

nice one wise guy. not really an option since 1. you have to use two hands in a relatively uncomfortable position 2. manual focus is never going to be as fast or as accurate in a hurry as af can potentially be 3. also try mf on a moving object; lol 4. you can’t use the viewfinder in video mode cos the mirror flips up, and trying to mf with the screen is also like wanking with sandpaper.

manual focus is more legit, but if you can’t handle it, then that’s fine. I guess you should just get a new lens or something. Sorry you aren’t pleased with the AF. And I wasn’t trying to be a ‘wise guy’, just throwing it out there.

i don’t get what you mean by ‘legit’… as it happens, if i do ever have to take video with the 500d I would probably use manual focus , but i would probably prefer to use something else anyway
