I thought Anya was using Haha and Chichi as a diminutive of Hahaue and Chichiue. Aren’t these the formal ways of referring to parents in Japanese?

It’s cuz she’s younger than six and everything shows it. She said she’s 6 so Loid would chose her. I think Anya is adorable the way she is and it’s part of her character ❤️

ALSO people who says Loid and Yor are not her real parents are kindda wrong cuz Anya knows no can can find out her family is fake so she has to act and speak like Twilight and Yor were her real parents.

I’m Japanese.
My grandparents were young when I was born so I grew up calling them “chi chi and ha ha” because they didn’t want to be called “ojichan obachan”

Well she can read minds so she is constantly knowing what others are thinking, so in a sense she is as close to a person as the person is to him/herself. So in a sense she is their friend in her mind knowing all their secrets etc.. That only close friends or relatives would otherwise know. And because she is as young as she is, she can misinterpret the spoken and the thoughts.. Now i have no idea, but if ” omae ” is most used for males.. That could also be because most of those who have adopted her were males? or she have had more contact with males and their minds. Kids are like sponges they will use the words that are most used in their vicinity.

I speak no Japanese but if I understand this correctly Anya saying “chi-chi” and “haha” is like saying “my father” and “my mother” in English which is fine when taking about them to someone else, but when speaking to Loid and Yor day to day it’s silly. So in the scene with Yor she’s saying “my mother, do you want to hold hands?” – no one speaks like that in English. If this is correct its hilarious and genius for two reasons;
1) it solidifies her position in the story as the character the audience anchors themselves to, since with her ESP she’s observing like we are – so referring to Yor and Loid in this way means she’s giving us real time narration.
2) it can seem like she’s telling Loid and Yor off and reminding them to play their role, like in episode 9 when she’s about to get on the school bus, she could be saying “my mother and my father need to get along”👀.

Also she says ouí alot so she’s probably French.
