Anya no haha just sounds evil 🤣 😅
why did you not mention the ancient way of adressing your parents which are hahawe and chchiwe? I thought this might be related to that so it surprised me when you didn’t address it. So is it related or not?
Very interesting! Thank you for the video!
Neither I nor any of my family members speak Japanese, but we pick up on little words here and there while watching anime. Sometimes it really helps elevate the context (one example being when a character in a particular anime said “sayonara” during an emotional moment, but it was simply translated as “goodbye” in English). I turned to my sister, who has invested more time into trying to learn some basic Japanese, and noted how I’d never heard the word Anya was using that was translated as “papa”. She hadn’t heard it before, either. A few days later this video popped into my feed and explained everything! Thank you so much!
It’s also possible the reason for her lack of complete knowledge of the English language might be because she is French (can be because she’s still young but whatever). You might sometimes notice that she affirms a question with “Oui” instead of “Hai” (はい) which roughly translates to “Yes” in English. And “Oui” is, surprise surprise, from the French language.
Her name however sounds like a typical Russian name to me. Not sure if I’m correct but I suspect Anya’s biological parents are from Russia and French.
Or it might be that both her biological parents are from Russia and she picked up the word “Oui” gradually from French scientists who frequently tested stuff on her (which might be the cause of her mind-reading power). Maybe she was intended to become a spy for a country in the future but instead escaped due to internal conflict between scientists involved in the project.
My haha laugh haha
Uhmm.. she’s a 6 year old, didnt attend school, an orphan in a really poor orphanage and she’s just a lab rat or a experimental child.
How could she learn proper ethics and proper ways or speaking?
Just my opinion.
That first part is kinda stupid, I mean English also has stupid rules and exceptions, even Spanish has them. The technicalities of some languages are really dumb.
If you look at folks who more strictly use formal language, you’ll find people addressing their parents as chichi-ue/haha-ue. Anya could have picked this up from someone who was taught to speak in this archaic formal way and dropped the pretentious honorific when using it herself.
And you’d think you’d only see that kind of language in anime or reenacting ancient history… Well, back when I was more fluent, I met plenty of people who talk like that.
i think as a whole, its safe to say that the answer to that is: shes a kid. she says a lot of words wrong, so ig she just took anything that she read on other people’s minds and thought that was right, aka, nobody really taught her anything.
She talks like that to be unique to the series and sound cute
I think we can give Anya a pass here. She is 6, all children her age speak improperly since they haven’t received enough education to correct their mistakes.
Guys, go touch grass
Anya is always thinking in 3rd person because she is psychic 😤
that’s interesting. in my school, we were taught to use “chichi” and “haha” to call/refer to our own parents. we were encouraged to use those instead of “otousan” and “okaasan,” which should be used to call/refer to other people’s parents (though, they also said that people nowadays use those terms to call their parents as well). so i didn’t really pay attention to how anya addresses loid and yor because i thought it was normal.
ur okassan jokes
Then what’s about hahaue
She’s in this world’s version of France. With all the oui
You mean there’s even more layers of brilliance to this show?!?
Onichichi
