It goes to show Hololive is becomig bigger, and so they are able to make big debut like this. But doing so will set the expectancy at this level now for any future gen, for any branch, I fear. Well, it’s not like Hololive mass recruit like NIJI, so they can gather funds over the year.

Also the new gens debut with like 300k subs before they even stream. Some Hololive members spent YEARS getting 300k subs. Similar story with income, the first gens couldn’t even really afford to live off the money they were making, now spending thousands on a PC, mic, mixer, monitors, that’s normal and just a week of work to afford. New gens definitely have it way easier.

Now that vtubing is reaching a saturation point it is more important for debuts to have maximum impact. This is also why Cover prioritized the EN concert over debuting the ENGen3, the hype surrounding each would overlap so it was important to stagger them.

I do feel sorry for the girls of older generations. It does feel like they get rather ignored and looked over.

People treat vtubers the same way so many people treat music or tv or movies. They only want what is “new’. You can point back to an amazing song or movie or tv show of the past, but most of the time young people just don’t care and aren’t interested, they want something flashy and new anyway, even if it is worse.

All these modern remakes of classic movies are a testament to that. They are watched by more people and earn more money than the original ever did, even if the original was way better.

Damn shame how simple minded people are. Fuwamoco got 300k subscribers on the first day, how insane is that? My Oshi Fauna is like 700k more or less. They got nearly half that in a day. I do think they are incredibly cute and i’m SO glad they’re getting a second chance at being vtubers and being so successful, but it’s just a shame people put so much emphasis on “new” as opposed to quality.

It’s that way for music. It’s that way for video games. It’s that way for TV shows. It’s that way for movies. And it’s that way for vtubers.
