I believe it’s the way the artist(s) used such a wide variety of emotional and (obviously) extremely exaggerated expressions throughout the Manga and the series (which captures them beautifully, imo). She’s just so easy to place in such a variety of Manga, whether it be Shonen for the lulz, Slice-of-Life for the easy fit, or any other form of genre throughout the Anime/Manga community. It’s basically a free character insert meme, and since it’s become a trend and people are enjoying it, yea, you will likely see a lot of this until you’re tired of it, then see even MORE of it because people get laughs over stuff that’s overused, then it’ll be funny again when someone posts an extremely unique animated edit, and then the trend will pick back up with actual Anya Anime-version edits into other Anime (waiting for Anya’s Ultra Instinct animation against Jiren with that epic punch she throws in that one episode).

So yea, people will complain about any trend they possibly can to appear niche in a sense or for some other formal dictation just for the likes and to stand out in a crowd ‘Well, I’m sick of this kinda humor, it got old after the first two.’ Bruh, two edits can be funny, but several more can also be just as humorous, if not more or less than the ones you’ve seen. And, also, you’re not one to dictate what humor is to another person. What you may find boring, other people may find enjoyable. Humor isn’t dictated by you or judged entirely off your sense of humor, its addressed to whoever simply gets at the very least, a small smirk from someone having a bad day, or.. well, any sort of other situation you can think of.

Here’s my take. The character is cute. But she is so one dimensional it’s getting annoying. I would never wish death on her that’s insane but there’s only so many times I can see the same faces and reactions to start to get bored. The edits aren’t funny but they’ve flooded the entire internet to the point where they can’t be avoided. Every news source, YouTube channel, forum etc that has anything to do with anime has Anya fever. Scarcity really makes the heart grow fonder because now I internally eye roll when I see her. It’s sad this is how overexposure works

My response to this kind of toxicity is always the same: Why can’t we just, you know, let people enjoy the things they enjoy.

The past 2 years have been hard on every single one of us, and you’re getting upset over something so wholesome and adorable in the cesspool of actual toxic takes that is twitter, for as much of a meme it is to tell the weeb community to go touch grass, these people are the ones that really should go out and sit in a park for a minute.

As much as I hate to admit it, I also hold hate toward Anya, it was nothing she did or what even the people who made Spy x Family did, I just do not like her, despite her “Cuteness.”
