I’m so glad you’re watching spy x family! Absolutely adore this show and I can’t wait to see your reactions to this show! Just wanted to clarify a couple of things: Franky is an informant, he’s not Twilight’s handler or a member of WISE (the spy agency) and Anya told Loid that she’s six so nobody’s aware that she’s actually 4 or 5.

Yay! This anime is so much fun! A little non-spoiler background, just for your appreciation: this anime is set in a fictionalized Cold War East Germany (Ostania) and West Germany (Westalia), and the manga creator is a big fan of classic spy movies and TV shows, so you’ll see a ton of references, and you definitely get that vibe from the soundtrack. There are some times when the story gets serious about the effects of war and the real peril the world is in, and when Twilight references his childhood (as he does at the end of this episode), it’s important to remember that he would have been a child during WWII, and experienced everything a German child would have experienced at that time. That is his motivation for becoming a spy.

Don’t worry about being confused, you picked up on a lot more than most. I think you’ll really like the show. It’s more of a comedy and has ‘out there’ stuff like Anya being a telepath, so don’t expect it to be as grounded as Run With the Wind or even Haikyuu which are more or less set in the real world.

I think an exclusive, prestigious private school requiring both parents is using the idea that only a stable household with a complete family is capable of producing a high quality child that is worthy of attending their school.

If it wasn’t obvious, this is set in a fictional West and East Germany at the height of the Cold War (50s-60s) which is why the emphasis on full families, etc. I’m thrilled you’re reacting to this, Sarah. You’ll love all of the members of the Forgers.
