I think one of the resons why Anya speaks incorrectly is that she’s meant to be “uneducated” in a way. SHe never really had any education and is also very young. She claims to be 6 years old, but even other characters acknowledge that there is no way that’s true. She was also ordered around constantly from a young age in the orphanage, so that would explain the sometimes odd speech patterns. That’s all she heard, so that’s what she learned.

The reference to Castle In The Sky used two different translations: “People look like trash” and “Die like insects”. I don’t follow how they are the same?

When reading the Manga of Spy x Family I assumed the “trash” quote was another (very funny) reference to Anya’s picking up things from tv shows and Loid wondering at his kid (as all parents are oft to do when they hear weird/new phrases their children pick up)! So it worked in the manga and anime but the reference is something I was not aware of and still don’t understand?

A picture falling off the wall is often linked to superstitious believes in many cultures and is usually a sign of something bad so even if non-Japanese speakers don’t get the specific details of the double entendre used the picture falling off the wall is something that many people can understand to some degree.

I watch my Spy X Anya translated by private translators, because Crunchy tends to loose things in translation. So what the private translator did was translate the sentence to “Daddy is a tsundere”.
Knowing who you are translating to makes it so much easier to translate the meaning of a sentence, since the translator knew the cultural zeitgeist of “Tsundere”

For the “ochiru” part, I think Tagalog has an equal, and I totally get it now
