This is so fascinating, and been wondering about how she spoke so glad you did a video on it. I think for chichi and haha it kind of fits since they aren’t her real parents and may just be how she has heard others talk about each others parents or something. Will be interesting to see if the way she refers to them changes over the course of the show.

this is so interesting, thanks for the analysis! your video makes me wonder if the reason Anya uses Chichi and Haha is because she (spoilers? it’s in ep 1 though) grew up in a lab and only ever really heard about parents in the context of other people talking about theirs. She likely wouldn’t have really heard the words okaasan and otousan in that environment, which is a very sad thought :’(

Things like this just prove that Anya is one of the most believable child characters in the medium. …Even with the fact that she’s a telepath.
Actually no, that kinda helps her case because her being one causes her to be five times as cute because she’s getting her wires crossed with how to speak to people. Y’know, like any kids with those powers would.

She slurs words, she is very young and the time frame is somewhere around the 1960s. If she speaks in outdated terms that’s most likely because of that.

Also some things she says are referencing previous episodes. The scen at the tailor referred to the post credits scene of episode 1 where she says mama does not exist twice, wich is a factual statement at that point.

I think maybe she’s using these “incorrect” phrases (chichi/haha) as a sort of joke as to the nature of the relationships she has with these people. Without your explanation I could not have gotten this joke. Yes Lloyd/Loid is her “father”… but he is also not her father. As she is knowingly entering into a ruse (with no guile as to how it would appear to others), there’s a sort of joke to the phrase she chooses to address Loid directly..
