I assumed Anya’s background and ability is what leads to her incorrect usage of chichi/haha since she might’ve picked it up from other people at the orphanage maybe kids who remember her parents or adults thinking about peoples parents. Though before this show I was incorrectly taught that these words are how children address their own parents and I appreciate Yuta clearing that up.

I think encouraging not having formal and informal language is a good thing. Whether it’s the formal or the informal is of little importance in my opinion.
Removing language barriers is important, that’s something which can be seen all throughout history and in every single country.

But Anya IS talking to someone who is not her parent in both cases.

I see it as an intentional high level humorous take on the fact that Anya is perfectly aware that neither of her parents are there ‘as’ parents, but rather as covers for their own ends and she happens to be present. A situation she is well aware of through telepathy. Totally agree that it would not be a title a child could use to their actual parents given the information in this video; but the whole situation screams a reason to be included as a character twist by a clever author. Also suggests the comment makers missed the joke.

I always thought she did that because she’s adopted and because she’s a telupsth she knows the family is fake. Also the shoe is based on a European uperclass family and it’s kind of a stereo type for rich white kids to call their family by formal titles in media.
