Padded shorts are needed because the modern day saddle is designed in such way as to try and impale you… So if we designed a comfy saddle we would not need funny shorts … and this video would not be required…
Part of this video should explain why the saddle is designed in this way… And hence … There is a need to add padding in the shorts to compensate this (painful) saddle design…
Bibs or nothing
I prefer nicks. There’s less of them; I can take a pee without issues; and I can carry a pump tucked in the back when I ride in a t-shit.
From a lady, bib shorts rarely, too much hassle going to the loo, padded cycle shorts always and what problems with the waistband? you must have wearing cheap ones, try Assos or Rapha ones, never a problem
endura women’s bib shorts have a zippered “trap door” that permits fuss free bathroom breaks
Always with padding! But how to layer in winter? Inner layer with padding and outer without. Or vice versa? Or double and quadruple paddings with every layer?
fundamental question- smb can explain me why they have much padding in bib shorts and other type of bycicle underwear, and why they not do seats with same comfortable padding?
A pair of cycling shorts with an ass cussion i understand, but none of that perv parade looking lycra crap!
🤤🤤🤤❤️
o my god. I have understood everything she said
Last year bough fox bib – it’s ok but nothing special
This year – sportful bib, and it’s awesome. Can’t imaging cycling without it)
best regards from Russia-Vladivostok)))
U mmm…so….if you’re a woman and need to pee in the roadside bushes, with a bib we’d need to strip down to sports bra and then expose bottom and THEN squat? Ughhhhhh
I’m a heavy rider (80kg , 170cm with fat legs) . recently started since 2 months ago. I have a Scott RC ++++ short bib (size L) which was good for my last 1000kms. I want to buy a new short bib. Tried Castelli Entrata and Endurance 2 , in sizes of L and XL but both were too small for me. I heard Castelli and Santini Italian brands are mainly made for skinny riders. Would you suggest which brands are good for heavy riders? For example the SCOTT RC PREMIUM ITD ++++ BIBSHORTS which I have are very well fit. But after around 90 minutes I start getting pain on seat. Thats why I wanted to try something other than Scott.
Bib shorts require your legs, waist, and torso to be proportional. Mine are not. Small size shorts fit me, but the length of the bibs need to be medium to large. Bib shorts therefore don’t work for me.
I love my bib shorts, but it wasn’t always so. I used to cover my bib shorts with board shorts to escape the ridicule from my colleagues. Eventually I stopped doing that. Now, I’m rocking my bib shorts proudly with my neon orange socks, violet lens Sutros, and rainbow metallic accented Synthe.
Is it worth to invest to a kit if you are not serious about cycling ? , i mean i have my bike for 2 months now for commuting and rides of 10 15km for fun and i enjoy it so far , i have thought about invest to a kit but for the use i do im not sure
I once had a bike with leather sadle and remember it wss the most comforable sadle I ever had!
Important to mention one point from the last 5 seconds, at the start of the video – don’t wear underwear with cycling shorts.
In the 80’s I rode in those wool shorts with leather chamois, on a Brooks leather saddle, on a 50’s era fixed-wheel with no brakes. I do prefer modern materials in clothing. Wish I still had that bike though…
Seems to me the necessity for padded shorts is because modern saddles, for all their sleek good looks, are not designed for comfort. I ride Brooks and don’t need weird stuff in my shorts!
Yes Bib shorts are the way to go. Find a comfortable pair and you won’t regret it 😎🚴🏻
