Anna is the best!
Best tutorial ever, and I’ve actually watched tons.
would love to see how to do this without the clipless. I can’t do it unless I wear clips and don’t clip in when I mnt bike.
Its nice to see someone who can’t do it being taught as opposed to someone who can showing you, it shows how difficult it actually is 🙂
Great job Anna!!! I need to do this, step wise, take my time. Martyn’s the best, great instructing. So many bunny hop teachers get’s into the flats vs clips and poo-pooing the lifting with clips, oh you get bad habits and your bike will be ugly and you will smell bad…..so great to hear someone say just don’t worry about it, the goal is to make it work for you and how you ride. If you ride clips and can’t tell when you are lifting, when you should or shouldn’t lift, that there is the problem.
Awesome progress!! I find it easier to basically manual in and then stand up tall to get the rear end up. Dead jealous of that scout too
The only technique that helped me was the technique that Leigh Donovan showed Blake. For me it’s not about amplitude, the notorious L-shape, rear wheel lifting or manual position. It’s all about right and high (it’s important!) front wheel lifting and one sharp but smooth complex bunny-hop movement.
And here’s one more important think — use some obstacles (sticks, bricks, etc.) instead of just lines or cracks on the road. Idk why but it works better.
Anna, you have clipless pedals on….. Plus you have a full suspension bike just compress it really hard and pull up real hard and next thing you know you have an instant bunny hop.
Honestly if you want to do proper technique Bunny Hop you’d use a hardtail 😉
I can bunny hop and have been able to for some 30years and although higher than this young lady my technique is garbage. I will keep trying it this way in future because for starters it looks way better. I’ll be keeping a eye out for your manual video, which again can sort of do lolx
I think different people learn bunnyhop different way. That lifting front and rear wheel did not work for me at all because of one thing. I could not force myself to pull the handlebars to the hips. For me it is completely different motion than lifting the rear wheel only (even though I use flats so I was not just SPD-ing the rear up). I’ve learned that finally on some small but steep tabletops where you had to do this to stay upright. Somehow I could not learn that when practising on flat ground.
He is just being modest we all know Martyn can easily bunny hop a wheelchair.
What a great video guys!
Definitely will try this today! Thank you!
Thank you. (I’m)Working on it,not mastered it. I know it’s a skill that will come in useful on the trails. Practice, practice, practice.
As a beginner MTBer, hearing Anna go “I’m going to die!” reminds me so much of my recent rides! I guess there’s always an element of fear regardless of how experienced you are.
Everytime I watch him I can’t help thinking: everyone needs a Martyn in their life.
I’d love to see same video but without clips! Great video tho
Cheater clips
Love Martyn’s simple instructions. Easy to understand and practice. More like this please!
changed to a hardtail…
