Never got rid of them in the first place…
Yep – regularly do 100km loops on my XC bike and being able to change position would help. Had to fit Ergons as my wrists would be going dead after a few hours riding but bar ends would be another improvement.
i want mtnbike barkbusters ok
They work well on flat bars
I used to have one to assist with hill climbs.
I do a few 100+ mile rides a year and each time I wish I had another position. Or anytime there is a bit of road/gravel/ non tech section involved to get from trail to trail
Bike packing, work wonders
Saying; bar- ends are good for comfort is like saying helmets are good for keeping the rain and sun off your head. Yes they do give your hands elbows and shoulders a bit of a respite from fatigue. But they are actually about climbing LEVERAGE 💪! They work by acting like a lever and fulcrum when you pull up on climbs. The force generated by your arms are transferred across the fulcrum points ( the crank and the saddle ) appling force to the back tire increasing your traction!
Found my old onzas tidying the shed the other week, I’ll dust them off.
I have bar end set up inboard of my levers, in the same place a hoods on a road bike, to make fireroads more comfortable.
I ride a Trek X-Caliber with Ergon GP4. Wouldn’t trade them in for anything.
