I have inner bar ends and they really helped me with a 200km marathon. Especially with the wide handlebars it’s almost like riding on hoods
Absolutely, inner bar ends rock! ❤
I’ve fitted carbon bar ends on my Trek Rail, love them for climbing
Have them on my Oiz. Awesome for longer rides.
I used bar end in the 90s and totally agree. We used to cycle miles to the woods and the bar ends def made a difference because we could change position. Still got them on one of my bikes 👍
I use some GP3 Ergons on my street bike that is basically my cardio bike i do laps in my neighborhood on. helps giving me a different place for my hands and helps with numbness.
I loved having bar ends on my bike we called them bull bars!
only for xc i guess, not jumping or trail riding
Used to have them in the late 90’s. I miss them on long flat sections and fire road climbs. I honestly can’t recall one time where they snagged on anything, but my bars were only about 580mm wide back then too.
I still rock them on my xc bike. It’s great.
Hard up hill cranking is where I miss my bull horns the most. Watching the Tour de France look at the pro roadies hand position when they crank up 10%+.
Bar ends are awesome for getting hung up on the vines alongside the trail and coming to a very abrupt stop.
I’ve been using bar ends since 1991. They are wonderful.
Not for me, but why not if you feel they help? I definitely spend a lot of time on the hoods when riding road but I run fairly wide bars on my XC bike.
No thanks!
Farr have aero extension good for marathon races.
I have bar ends or “bull bars” as we called them in the 90s on my back up bike. I really like them!
There’s that side but also the bars were a lot narrower back then so out of the saddle you could get more leverage with bar ends.
They were for finger protection when trails used to be ungroomed and very tight.
I’ve been thinking about fitting a pair of bar ends to my bike, but inside the controls. On some of the longest rides (4+ hours) my hands start to get numb, so having the option of changing the position would help a lot.
