The problem is how car centric the USA is. The rest of the world actually can walk and ride their bike places. Let alone disturb the car owners.
They get in the way when I drive up the hill for my hiking trips.
Because my vehicle got stolen, insurance didn’t pay out like the cunts they are, so all I can afford to get to and from my wagie cagie is a bicycle. And because my government that takes money out of every paycheck spends it on war, corruption, and sprawling suburbia instead of public transportation and bike lanes, I will continue to use the public road as it’s my damn right as an American. Every soccer mom in her SUV can suck my fat nuts as I pedal 10 mph while making direct eye contact the entire time they attempt to pass me. I will continue to do this until a plausible alternative is given to me.
UM, ACKSHUALLY horses are legal on a lot of roads, just not like interstate highways and shit like that
r/fuckcars
Lol how are bikes supposed get around if there are no bike lanes then?
Thats a bad take. Bikes are less expensive than cars and necessary for many people to get to places. They also are better for the environment and the health of the user.
Your goal should be towards getting places for bikes to exist that are safe for everyone. So maybe promote walkable cities and better city planning in general to get bike paths and stuff.
STATE LAWS, that’s why. Nuff said. Bitch to the fucking govt. Not cyclists. They’d prefer to not die due to pricks and absent minded drivers playing on their phones and yelling at their kids.
TJ – If there were bicycle lanes everywhere, you would be right. But since in the US, there are practically no bicycle lanes anywhere, especially in places like the redneck Shitsville where you live, cyclists are FORCED to use the road,.
Don’t like it? BUILD MORE BICYCLE INFRASTRUCTURE. It’s MUCH cheaper than car infrastructure, and would help cut down on traffic, pollution, noise, and obesity.
Cyclists have the same rights to use the roads as motorists, because it’s the law, at least in my State anyway. But we do need separate and protected bike lanes.
L take + Bozo + Boomer + Debate me + You won’t no balls. I know this is an old take, but I’m surprised you still hold it.
Cyclists are such douches…the other day an old man in spandex flipped me off for the mere offense of passing around him on a 40 mph road…prick.
Yeah. We should have fenced bike lanes, walking side walks and dedicated bus lanes for ppl who don’t have a car…or who don’t wanna own one. Also maybe some trolley cars
I’m not sure if this is parody or not. Of course horses are allowed on the roads as well as bicycles. We should be funding more sustainable and accessible forms of transportation like public transit the way other industrialized countries are but lobbyists insured that cars are the only viable means to get around in the US. Just because you’re driving a combustion engine doesn’t mean you get to hog the road. We’re in this together and the level of entitlement when car drivers complain is outrageous. It’s attitudes like this that promote unsafe driving practices that put cyclists and runners in danger along with the practice of not having bike lanes and sidewalks on every roadway. Ridiculous.
Cars taking over roads is one of the worst things that have happened to society. It used to be that cars were considered a dangerous nuisance on the roads because they are. Oh no, motorists have to drive a little slower when cyclists are around? Boo fucking hoo. Cars make life worse for everyone and are destroying the planet.
First, i live in a town where people drive around in golf carts all the time.
My main thing is this. They are legally allowed on the road and have to follow the same traffic laws cars do. If governments really want cyclists off roads they should build seperate infrastructre for them.
The sad fact is if your trying to get from point A to point B in America, the best way on a bike is to use the same roads cars do. It would be safer to seperate bike and car traffic but i dont think our government wants to do it.
In Australia, bike lobbyists always ask for more bike paths. Then the “Tour de France” tryhards in their flouro leotards just form their own peloton on the roads anyway – right next to the bike paths.
Don’t be angry at bicyclists. Be angry at the cars. Why did we build a country that often leaves you with no reasonable choice but to pay for gas, insurance, and regular maintenance on an expensive vehicle that puts your life in constant danger and basically makes you a second-class citizen under house arrest if you don’t get a license.
Hey, TJ. Not your best take, buddy.
Would love to have you do a @Not Just Bikes or @Strong Towns reaction sometime. I found their content eye-opening about how the problems on our roads don’t come from the people using them, but the choices made when designing those roads making those problems inevitable. You might find it eye-opening as well.
I’ve had really annoying encounters with cyclists tbh i do not like encountering them but they should be allowed. I think many drivers are distracted for numerous reasons and a better driving standard should be set, in turn making it safer for all drivers and pedestrians.
