I presume this is your bike? If not why would anyone take their bike to be repaired in such a shit state could at least power washed it 😂
I worked on a friend’s bike with an similar result, not as bad, but the cause was different, it was a Shimano press fit, one side was super draggy. But some Muc Off 94 solved that, so would WD40. but it was a bit noisy, but at least I got it spinning properly. but those BBs can’t be serviced, so so the spray worked.
I don’t know the history of the bike, but it was quite messed up. I fixed what I could. but new BB will be an proper solution. but at least I got it spinning, so it would be rideable if it was not for the blown and leaking shock. I am don’t know why one side got that bad and not the other. Don’t even try to take these plastic bottom brackets apart, you will snap them.
I guess the rider did not inspect the bike enough, and BB was not installed properly or lacked thread locker. I apply some Loctite 243 at the last threads of the bb so when it’s all the way in there is an bond between the surfaces. and torque to an appropriate torque, 40nm seems to work well, some grease at the BB shell threads will keep it from getting stuck. if you don’t go crazy with thread locker it can easily be undone. but if you overdo it it will be hard.
I tried to remove a cassette on a friends crappy cheap bike, but it was stuck, I used Abbey cassette lock ring tool, but I could not get it out. I guess I might have needed an impact driver for it. a good practice is to use grease to prevent it.
And then it gets up on the marked place,, very little use, mint condition,,
My heart skipped when I saw the guy with the dugger dugger 😅
So the non-drive side is regular thread (?) but it happens on the drive side?
Is it through aggressively re-adjusting for a series of turns?
Omg… if that’s unthreaded….we all know it’s NOT greased
It is an archeological dig from Bombay.
