I do like having some delay in the timer just so I can cancel it if I need to.
For example: I have a macro that when use will activate “Enshroud” (Reaper) and after 1 second “North Wind.”
Let’s say I use the macro, but I’m going to be using the AoE attack so north wind would be pointless. All I need to do is activate the macro, have enshroud activate, then queue up an attack, and have the North Wind activation fail.
Meh you can do all of the don’ts. It only matters when you’re VERY endgame and every bit of dps matters. I’ve rocked macros like these for years and had very little issue. Worth the time to make them imo.
You could just pick a game with good combat system
That’s a cute Au Ra.
I’ve never seen the macro idea where you put it right next to party list. That is genius. I might try it for tank/healer actions.
Thank you for the sprint Macro- gonna most definitely use that 1…
always heard of Mouse Over macros never realized that that’s how they worked. for some reason in my mind i thought it worked by you mousing over the button not the target.
Not a combat macro, but I use a QoL macro scheme that creates a expandable/collapsible menu on the hud that allows me to change jobs easily, without much clutter. It involves using the base class hotbars to store the buttons and using a macro to swap them into a shared hotbar.
I think the hotbar macro one for specific party members is REALLY useful as a whole. I play SCH and it will make it MUCH easier to heal specific people I need too
mouse over is definitely going to be a game changer as a Healer for me since I dont have to click back and forth between enemies and party meembers
I saw this video recommended and I had to check it out, as I like to know what macros are useful and what ones are not, of course I was lured by the thumbnail! Love your Au’ra! 😀 extremely useful macros! Definitely getting a sub from me!
my fave part of the roleplay macro is how you become an NPC with it. it’s always the same line when doing the same action, like what a real roleplayer does right?
imagine telling people what not to do in ff14 I’m sure yoshi p would love that attitude
I don’t find it comfortable to use my number keys for actions, so I just click all my actions. As such, mouse-over macros are useless to me.
If you want to see this taken to an extreme, look up the one button summoner. It’s a series of macros that swap skills on your hot bar so you only have to spam 1 button to perform the summoner skill rotation. It’s not optimal, but it does perform at a rather adequate level for DPS output.
I’ve been using macros that swap hotbars. Ideally, I’d be able to make a macro that swaps hotbar one and hotbar three and put that macro on a keybound hotbar two, but I haven’t worked out if there’s a way to do that yet. Anyone got any pointers for that?
I think you need a macro to extract materia from your gear!! Just teasin’ – this was a great video. 😀
For the ppl that want a usable combat macro
Download the Dalamud, and then the ffxiv combat plug in.
The aoe cast at mousepointer is the one I needed, just removes that bumbling when you want to cast quickly instead of accidentally cancelling the targeter
/ac “AoE Ability” gtoff – I’ll be using this as soon as maintenance is over xD
You were a bit ambiguous ragarding the quotation marks, it basically boils down to if the *ability name* is made up of one or more words. Single word abilities work without the quotations, multiple word ones don’t.
All in all an informative video, I didn’t know about the queueing system, no wonder I have to spam my Dragon Sight for it to cast >_>”
The baseline mouseover for beneficials I picked up from reddit was:
/ac “spell”
/ac “spell”
/ac “spell”
I noticed though that there is a large downside to mouseover macros and that is that boss hitboxes can easily get in the way, so even if you are technically mouseovering, it might still not hit the correct target. This is an overall failing of FFXIV’s nameplates, which could really use a rework with how they layer.
can you make Give us Recipe Macro for Crafting?
