set sprint macro to #98/99 and bind it to the left controller stick press
the for mouse over looks really nice. i use something simillar as pld with sentinel and shirk. something like
/ac “Sentinel”
/ac “Sentinel”
it feels like there is a small delay between the lines. maybe 100ms or so. but is still faster than manuall switching.
that way i can use the skills on the other tank, while i keep the boss in focus. But if it is needed on another party member, i still need to lock on them.
I will give it a try the next days^^
I actually have 2 res macros on all healers and smn.
1st macro is the “just a res” button with a snarky chat macro
2nd macro is the swiftcast + res button with a different snarky macro
Why i have both is
1. i wanna be snakry :p
2. Sometimes when i panic, i end up messing up swiftcast + res, so having a button that does both even if slightly slower reduces the chance of me making a mistake ressing people in a pinch :’)
Rdm doesn’t need a swiftcast macro since you ARE the swiftcast :>
I personally find it better to NOT have swift cast as part of any macro. Have it seperate and have the chat and rez in 1 macro. That way there are times when you can’t actually use swiftcast and need to do a slow rez. The party chat still goes off and you can use rez whenever.
extract the materia from your gear ahhhhhhhhhh
The Aurora with multiple target idea at the end has another good use: If you still have hotkeys left you can easy your Blackmage life a lot. I use Strg-Shift and a number to Aetherskate to the partymember of that number. Makes it far easier to react to stuff and get around. Then again it basically eats a whole hotbar so beware of that. Nice video though really informative.
I only play healer using mouse over macros and regularly clear savage content. The technicality that everybody gets hung up on is not being able to queue abilities/spells and it’s really not as big of a deal as everyone makes it out to be. It does make a difference, sure. But it’s really not even worth mentioning as it does NOT affect your performance nearly as badly as people claim. They are finicky sometimes, but once you figure out how they work, it’s simple.
It’s not that serious. You can still be a highly effective player even if you use a few macros to make your job more comfy.
This topic annoys me so much because people just make a massive mountain out of this mole hill. It’s like people pointing at players who click skills and REEE at them. There are plenty of highly capable players who click their spells without being a detriment. Same with macros. If someone is failing in ANY content, it’s not because of their macro. It’s because THEY need to get better.
I already know I’ll be bombarded by purist gatekeepers about how wrong I am and how I’m bad blah blah. It’s not that serious people. It’s not.
Really helpful! Thank you, brilliant! 🙂
I want to disagree with res macros. I think the QoL they provide is worth the delay, and it’s not like you use this on cooldown. Ideally, you never use it at all. The only time this will ever be an issue at all is duty finder duties – and in these, DPS checks are easy to make, parses don’t matter, and there are rarely even DPS checks at all.
In savage content, if more than a few people die it’s likely a wipe anyways.
Something useful to add to the end of the ‘target certain party member’ macros is /targetlastenemy . This will automatically make you re-target whatever you were targeting (most likely the boss) before using the macro
i have an aetheric manipulation version of the macro hud so that i can jump to the closest party member thats safe
I swapped off of controller after playing it (and clearing three ultimates on it) for over 8 years.
As of now, I’m playing with the tactical assault commander (ff14) hori keypad.
The most useful macros for me are ones which change my hotbar loadout, similar to how you would on a controller with the R1 trigger.
I’ve set it so that my middle-mouse button will swap all of my single-target actions to their AoE versions, and vice-versa. The TAC does not have issues with button limitations, but it still allows me to be fully comfortable with zero hand strain on every job. The most notable of classes that perform well with this is Samurai, who has pretty much an AoE version of every skill in its arsenal. I had gotten used to this hotbar swapping style from playing on controller, and was surprised to find not many people do this same thing on keyboard and mouse when it can save me a solid 7-9 buttons on some jobs like this.
Just for the record, this does NOT invoke the issues of input delay, as the macro only swaps the hotbar’s actions around, it does not actually try to use them, I still need to press the button which is not itself a macro.
The only thing I use that hotbar party macro thing for is Play on AST. Huge gamechanger for the job imo!
On controller, you can keep the boss/enemy targeted, scroll down the party list with d-pad, use the skill, then you will be right back to your main target, no need to actually switch targets.
You only need ” ” if the skill name is longer then 1 word
My most useful macro on PS4 is:
/merror off
/micon Sprint
/mount “SDS Fenrir”
/ac Sprint
/levelsync
It’s set to my L3 button. Makes joining low level fates easier, quick way to mount/dismount, and easy sprint. If you’re in an area where mounts can be used but you just want to sprint, all you have to do is jump before activating.
hmmm. Can you /micon indivual ast cards? like [/micon “The Balance”] ? if so that might be use able with an [/ac “play” <2> ]macro so you never have to remember the cards function, just “Icon go bur” Like if you set ranged and healer to be party member 2-4 or something and so bowl, ewer, and spire are micons to [/ac “play” 2 /ac “play” 3] ect?
Anyone know a good macro to like “toggle” Ctrl or another modifying input?
Holding Ctrl or shift during a fight to switch between actions hurts my hand (old injuries flaring up).
Right now I have a macro that rotates two sets of hotbars (move hot bar 1 to 5, move 2 to 1, 5 to 2, 3 to 5, 4 to 3, 5 to 4) so the keybinds essentially have two different actions depending on which hot bars are rotated in (similar to pad players)
Problem is that it is just a tad too slow to be reliable. It works when I’m single weaving and the animation is short, but double weaving I have to just try to do with a mix of clicking and keybinds (depending on which is being used). Sometimes even double weaving just by clicking (which is terrible).
Any other ideas to approach this?
Literally the first “don’t do this” is something I was trying to do for lazily playing my job(blm). Automated dps. It’s garbage dps for sure, but it was more of a “can I do this to the point where it flows perfectly fine” over actual dps. After coming up with something, I told a buddy of mine – who apparently can’t play blm for some reason – and he wanted me to share it with him so he could play the job. Apparently he was so bad at it he needed a 4 button macro that would run through roughly the spells I use so he could be better. At the time, my dps was something like 12-13k or maybe 14k on a dummy(pre endwalker), can’t recall. All I do recall is that the dps from the macro’s was about 7-8k. xD
Again, I never used it in any live situation. Never got past testing phase, but it sure as shit was funny hearing “Don’t put GCD’s in your macro” when literally that’s what I was doing. xD
The only macros that i personally use are for Dragon Sight on dragoon and for GNB and DRK’s invulns so that my healer knows to actually give me a passing glance when I’m dying lol.
