I would understand Nikon’s move ONLY if they are getting rid of D3xxx or combine d3xxx and D5xxx in one low end camera. So this D7500 becomes the medium model, and D500 the top. In all other scenarios it’s a stupid move.

Nikon is loosing the plot on the 7xxx seriers prosumers cameras. Removing the joystick is a fail since i use the camera by touch only looking through the viewfinder. Touch screen is a fad and another thing to break. Also removing the AIS tab is absolute no no rendering fine lenses obsolete. I wouldn’t buy it even for $500. For me this is a glorified 3xxx seriers camera. A camera with a great sensor but handicapped. So useless as a prosumer camera.

I have a mint D7100 as my backup camera. Not getting rid of it anytime soon with the news of these new Nikons that are out. BTW your videos are gold!!

Thanks for giving it to us straight. All the tech sight reviews are like yeah this is a good upgrade from the d7200. No it isn’t! It’s a good camera in a tinker toy body. One SD slot! Say no more, that’s a deal breaker. It’s like giving me a little bit faster car but taking out the air bags to save a couple bucks! I’m keeping in my d7200 and will save up eventually for a d500.

As long as Nikon keeps removing stuff in their “upgrades” I am not buying any new camera. Still using the old d7000 because they stripped the anti aliasing filter from it in the later 7100 etc. Horrible problems with moiré when photographing fabrics and paintings makes them totally unusable for me. Ah well, they save me a lot of money. D7000 all the way!
