Ken couldn’t agree more. Looking to upgrade from my D7100 but the lack of 2 slots is a big step backwards! D500 I think now.
Why buy the D7500 when for a few more bills you can buy a D500?
nikons late april fools
I’m keeping my D7200. Had it a couple of years. It’s fantastic. Don’t need this neutered one 🙂
Okay so saved up enough money to pull the trigger on a new D7200($996) and 35mm 1.8G lens but once the D7500 hits the retailers will the D7200 drop in price($200)? Or is the d7500 like a “middle ground” between the D7200 and D500 instead of a replacement for the D7200.
Right now worthless. You are 100% right on that.
But in a year or two when you can get a used one for 700 that will be totally worth it.
What were they thinking making this camera ? so glad i picked up my d7200. sure it’s fast but what is the point if you start to remove features.
How much you wanna bet they remove the ais indexing ring off of the d760 and every camera that comes out after that.
I couldn’t agree more with you. Nikon should fire the guy that designed out the second SD slot. I’d like to hear just one good reason for that move from Nikon. Jeeezz!!
That long pause was phenomenal
Has there been any budget body vids lately- wonder how prices are these days
This is rather a glorified d7200 than scaled down d500 & even lose some features that came from the d7000 in 2010.
Same autofocus as d7200 & will gain group af & face detection from d500 meter. Also gains 36 buffer depth vs 18 buffer depth of d7200 and 8fps vs 6fps. 2fps gain is good.
Loses 4mp with 24mp to 20mp, loses bit of dynamic range & gains bit of high iso.
Also gains 4k video enabled by higher speed processor, but auto focus in video sucks on nikon vs canon & others.
Loses sd slot & sd slot still on uhs-i. Would have like uhs-ii for clearing buffer .
Loses by going from wmu on d7200 to crappier snapbridge as snapbridge cannot convert & send raw files likes like older wmu app can. Also loses NFC for android.
Gains flip & touch screen, but same resolution as d7200.
And for Ken, loses Ais capability, even though I don’t own one yet, but watching a few 135mm on ebay at the moment.
I currently have a d500, d610, d7200 & d7000. Will likely sell the latter two soon, as never use them.
Would expect these upgrades to cost max 100usd more as d7200 and should not have lost any other features of previous generations.
*moment of silence*
I have 2 D4s’ (1 has over 1.6 million sc & still going strong,, the other is still new with 3,000 sc),,, I have 1 D4 (40 k sc) & now ready to sell my beloved D3 (73k sc)… I am going to get a D500 for a ‘carry everywhere’ camera, & it sounds like it’s still going to be the next best ‘little’ Nikon I get,,, not heard a bad word against it yet 🙂
Thanks for the updates Ken 🙂
The D500 is the best DX camera body by Nikon… then there is this D7500… lol.
My first DSLR was a Nikon D40, which I bought to evaluate the need for a flexible AF digital camera. After some years, I looked for a D7000 to see if going from 6MP to 16MP was a good move. (It is.;) Now I hear that the new Nikon D7500 is essentially a fast D5XXXK camera, which is disappointing. What’s my next (low end Nikon) move? Maybe a D600 or D7200 if eBay prices aren’t on the moon. Meanwhile, Yashica FX-3 is calling, along with those “Zeiss” Contax/Yashica lenses. Fuji? Way too pricey.
Well look at the price of Sony A7RII and A7SII have 1 SD card for double the price! I agree only 1 SD card and dropping from 24mp down to 20.9 is silly as well.
I can’t see who this camera is for. D7000 at $400, D7100 at $550, D700 at $700, D7500 at $1250: which way would you jump? Would you even trade your D7100 in a straight swap?
Nikon frigging shit up bigtime.
Is it a good time to pick up a used D7100 or D7200 now?
