I’m a professional photographer of 23 years and just got married a few weeks back. I was able to work a trade deal with a fellow photographer friend where I photographed her sister’s wedding so she could gift that to her instead of be stuck behind the camera and she photographed mine. I gave her the raw files to edit her sisters stuff and she gave me the raw files to edit. We did both do a comprehensive sneak peek for each other so the first time seeing a preview wasn’t looking at raw files… gave us the chance to still get that moment when looking through.
We did 1 shooter for 6 hours. Cost was NZD $1800. We ended up with just shy of 500 edited photos. Our ceremony was at 2pm and she went straight there about 20-30 minutes prior.
Our important aspects were the ceremony, the group photos, bridal party, sunset photos and the general vibe of the day. She also got a decent amount of the reception.
So happy for her and will definitely be going back for anything we need in the future.
Professional photographer with a partner for 8 hours, but I’m also doing a shared google album. I created my own QR code with the album link and I will be printing off instruction templates for each table so people can add their own photos.
After a few family members passing away, I realized I have no photos with my family. I think photographing your wedding is something you can look back on, and your kids and grandkids will love
8:17 You could create a display at the wedding with some bingo cards listing the different photos you want taken, and have your guests submit the card/list and photos to you online after the wedding (but by a certain deadline.) Whoever completes the most, or the first who gets a black out, would get a prize.
We hired one shooter for 6 hours for our big day… which is a month away today! Ahh the excitement and stress are real!
This was really high on our priority list so we’ll have a professional photographer, videographer, and their assistant for 7 hours. Our wedding app also allows guests to upload photos they take to the app.
I found an amazing husband and wife photography team that does smaller wedding packages (2, 3, and 4 hour packages) and are so affordable yet so good! We are hiring them for 6 hours for our wedding and paying in the $800s!!
we planned for a two year engagement and hired someone who was just starting out! We paid her beginner prices knowing full well that she would be pretty experienced by the time our day rolled around. We also lucked out because she is doing our videography for free to build her portfolio.
Really enjoyed your video with Vanessa Joy. Fell down the rabbit hole that is her website. If I were going the Student Photographer route, I think I would purchase her Speed Posing course for that student.
Well I’m not engaged and I’m not even in a relationship right now but more likely then not I am going to be on a tight budget for my wedding so with that being said I might hire a student who is studying photography at a local college to give them some experience and so me and my husband to be can save some money
My mom did disposable cameras and only two were left at the end (people took them) and there were only a couple photos on one of the ones left and none on the other. As a wedding photographer myself I’m having trouble with being too picky with photographers and wondering how I’m going to afford one I like….. less than a year away and no plan yet 😳🙄
Hehe “a gob ton” that just tickled me 😄
We are thinking of asking either my brother or a friend to do some photos during the wedding. Majority of the photos will be taken the day before because we are doing a very intimate ceremony at the courthouse with just a few witnesses. I am thinking all of the family photos and couple photos of us will be taken that day to save time. The next day which would be the reception we are inviting a total of 35 ish people, so probably 30 or less will be able to attend. The plan is to ask said brother or friend to do a bit of photos during, but mainly we are purchasing a portable printer to be able to recall photos from peoples phones. The budget for our wedding is 30 000 NOK which is in the ballpark of 3k USD, so professional photography was definetely not an option for us sadly.
This video couldn’t have came at a better time JAMIE YOU ARE AN ANGEL! I just messaged my photographer about cutting hours last night, this made me feel so much better we are crunching everything into 4 hours and then doing disposable photos for the reception time! Thank you Jamie!
Hi, can you please make a video about different creative ways to announce something big in your life at your own wedding? Like a pregnancy, that the couple eloped alone beforehand, bought a house, move to another country, etc. That would be so great and helpful! 😊
Our wedding will be in June 2023. We have no budget for a photographer, but we came up with several soulitons (yes we are doing them all) ; 1. My uncle uses a lot of photography in his work and can and will make the photos during the day. (Not the same as a proff but still a good option) 2. During the party/night we are hiring a photobooth. Not cheap bus not as much as a photografer. (4 hours-unlimited photo prints-online acces after to all photos taken-€400,-) 3. Disposable camera’s are quite expansive (€18,-) so, I have an old camera that still works. We place it on a table with a sing ‘grap me, snap, put me back’. People can take all the photos the want, all day long, and I can develop them after. (I also get them on my phone, is an app from Nikon) Hope it helps some of you as well. Greetings from the Netherlands!
I have been married twice and both times had tiny budgets (under $4000 each). 1st time my photography package was given as a wedding gift but a very small package limited to a few hours and a total of 85 pictures. My approach was to get the traditional shots of the big moments of the wedding and reception and then I wanted portrait type pictures of each couple or family that was there. That worked out perfectly. We had disposable cameras on the tables but that resulted in a lot of bad pictures of my dress, people with their heads cut off and a lot of blurry pictures not worth keeping.
2nd time around a family member offered to do the photography as our gift and he has a legit camera that he uses for work. Literally his wife & daughters were my bridal party so it was easy to get our pictures done after the ceremony. We had talked about what pictures were important to me from the day and he got them and a lot more. 😁
We’re doing one shooter for 4 hours. Already had our engagement shoot with her, and she’s wonderful! At the reception we’re also going to have a diy photobooth with an iPad set up and connected to one of those little printers that print photos on sticky paper to put in our guestbook.
