It is official… I Found out today from Nikon USA that Nikon will NOT be including a MB-
Vertical Grip.. Another reason NOT to upgrade to the D7500..

New slogan for Nikon Corporate. D7500 I AM Disappointing. Instead of putting it in it’s own category and naming it D6500, they made sure to tell all faithful return D7xxx body owners we are just going to kill off your market segment thanks for hanging with Nikon for as long as you have though.

I find it hard to believe Ricoh is dumping Pentax. I played with the K-1 at the Photo Show in Birmingham and it’s a fantastic piece of kit. Doesn’t make sense for Pentax to be dropped.

Wow all that hate for the D7500 but if some one walked into your shop buying new and was in the market for a 7000 series Nikon D7500 will be the defacto APSC model. Based on other comparisons with people disappointed that it doesn’t add anything to the D500, in the UK the price difference (without discounts) between the D500 and D7500 is £430 that’s a 18-105mm AF-S DX Nikkor f/3.5-5.6G ED VR and a AF-S 35mm f/1.8G DX lens worth of difference. For a budding enthusiast that’s worth a thought. Bought a D300 instead of a D3 in 2008, the difference paid for the 10-20mm Zoom for all my junked full frame Nikkor wide and ultrawide lenses. There has been no real upgrade to the D300 till the D500 so I can see that buyers should be pleased to see great strides in that level of camera, a D7000(12)-7100(13)-7200(15)-7500(17) series has been mulching along so comments like I’ll be hanging on to my D7xxx is like saying the 2017 Ford Focus isn’t much of an advance on my 2015 Focus so I’ll be hanging on to it…Doh! Basically the D7500 has the D500 sensor and processor so like a hot hatch it’s got the sports car engine, it’s still sectored in the hatchback market. As for the whole Nikon D3xxx-D5xxx-D7xxx differentiation issue who knows, I feel my D750 should be in that sector. Meanwhile, we also use Pentax and I have cameras and lenses dating back to 1959 shame if we see it go the way of Minolta.

with 1tb sd cards available ( up to 2,000,000 photos) NO ONE HERE HAS SHOT 1/4 OF THAT , as far as pentax they spent many dollars and yrs of advertising to be the “best”” economy camera , i.e. k1000 , so why is everyone trying to elevate them to a catagory that pushes them to the brink of failure . they NEVER intended to be top of the line . back in the day , they were more in line with olympus cameras and minolta cameras, on the “high” end was canon , nikon , leica and hasselblad , in that order.

I think that anything that provides an alternative to Canon and Nikon. Granted, Sony & Fuji are doing a good job providing alternatives but losing brands always make me sad because ultimately consumers will be the ones who miss out. Long live Pentax 🙂

Angry Photographer made a good point, in checking the list of features it is an upgrade from the D5600 which would be a D5700, Guess what?? They screwed up the name! D7500=D5700! Explains the jump from D7200-7500 in naming nomenclature. Problem is they priced it as a D7XXX series camera. Nikon is loooosing it!! That’s why I stick with just the D500 and my Fujifilm kit
