I’ve been using Pentax for nearly 40 years and no idea what all you SHEEP have against them. Apart from the video capabilities which you could say let them down, that said I have no interest in video and would much prefer a DSLR without it.. The K-1 is arguably the best landscape dslr out there and the 645Z is great.
Why dont consider the D7500 like the DX entry-level body?
Basically Nikon can just save the D7500 and the D500 on the DX line up and remove the D3000 and D5000 line to get the “focus on high-end camera”… I think that because, first, Nikon can save money to shop only two bodies in place of four and the D7500 have a split screen and no battery grip like a D5000.
Oh one slot on the D7500…then it’s a CANON!…lol
I also work out so I think I know how you feel, but is there 2 seconds of footage where you aren’t flexing your biceps?
FAIL
It’s definitely a downgrade. I don’t see the 7500 as an upgrade to the 7xxx line. Just like the 750 wasn’t the upgrade to the 700. I think this is gonna be a whole new line. The 75xx line.
Gopro stock prices down, good job! They make crap cameras and deserve to go out of business.
I like the idea of these news micros. Great!
It’s a successor of Nikon 5600. It’s the Nikon 5700. Nikon just fucked up the numbers 🙂
The D500 was on everyone’s list of best cameras of 2016. The D750 is one of the best all-around full-frame DSLRs available. Nikon’s taken the sensor from the D500, packaged it in a body with ergonomics very similar to the D750 and given the system performance (resolution, color rendition, low light, AF, burst and video) that meets or exceeds every enthusiast’s needs.
If you’re a parent who wants a camera for shooting stills or video of your kids’ soccer games, or if you’re a retiree who enjoys photographing birds and wildlife, the D7500 (on paper) appears to be extremely capable. If you’re an enthusiast and your preference is landscapes or portraiture, get the D7200 for its slightly improved resolution. If you’re a professional shooting sports and wildlife, move up to the D500…or to one of the flagship fullframe bodies.
The single SD card slot is an issue for the working professional. Frankly, it shouldn’t be that big an issue for the enthusiast. And this is an enthusiast-level camera. Here’s a thought: let’s wait until production versions of the D7500 are actually out & about in the wild, see how it actually performs and then start the conversation about whether or not it’s a good camera.
@JaredPolin, would love to see you do a real world shootout between the D7200 and D7500 in scenarios like a kids’ soccer match, a birthday party, visit to the Philly zoo or urban landscapes. Compare their performance in 2-3 different scenarios and then render a verdict about the D7500 as a success or failure.
Probably they named it 7500 cause it has the same sensor as the D500
D5500 -> D5600 -> Same shit new number
D3300 -> D3400 -> Same shit now without built-in sensor cleaning
D7200 -> D7500 -> no dual cardslots nor legacy AI support
What the heck is wrong with this once great company?
Much ado about nothing.
The D7500 isn’t meant to be an upgrade from the D7200, as it obviously isn’t. It would however be an upgrade from the D3300 or D3400. For those who cannot afford a D500. If Nikon had put another card slot in, it may have taken away sales from the D500…. We just have to wait to see if Nikon will come out with a full frame version of the D500 ?. They could call it the D5b 🙂
Woow I mean Sony has no 2nd card slot since years and that is a pain in the ass but to go a step back and reducing the slots that is ridiculous!!
I’m not even remotely tempted to buy one… it’s actually making me look at Fuji.
A total fail by Nikon, any camera aimed at enthusiasts needs to have two slots, sales are gonna be crap…
Pentax sucks I’m happy that they’re getting rid of them
Seems nobody talks about missing AI index recognition? – No-go. The first 1000$+ Nikon that cannot make use of current production Nikon F mount lenses (yes, some excellent ones are still made, and the availability of great old glass is one great pro argument for Nikon).
Did Nikon mess up with the D7500? It looks like a fantastic upgrade and I would have traded my D7200 in a second for it… but no matter how rare an sd card failure is, I’m not walking into a paid gig with a single sd card slot… period. D7200 is staying in my bag for now. I mean seriously, one of the biggest discussions in the business right now is how the DSLR market is going to survive when the cameras of today are only minutely better than 4-5 years prior. Then the next great camera has a serious anti-professional downgrade? I guess they’re just saying “Sorry folks, but only one dual sd card crop sensor at a time!”
