There has to be something(s) that separate it from it’s bigger brother the D500. Would not make commercial, photographic or any sense whatsoever if both had the complete same specs. As it is as close as you could possibly get already. For myself a second card slot whilst nice would not be a deal breaker. I would just swop out cards, or get bigger cards. I bought the D500 upon release. If I had known about a D7500 then, likely I would have held off the D500. Bought the D7500. Saved £££s and bought more good glass. I suppose if they would have release both at same time it would have hit D500 sales.

The market is bigger then people looking to upgrade from 7200. If you still have d90 or less/ older this is a perfect upgrade for the money. Plus it is a lot lighter then d500. Not everybody wants to wear that big machine continuously but you get the same performances. 1 sd slot. I never had a card fail so that is a good gamble. It fills a gap but i do not perceive it as an upgrade. It is more a fill in by providing better performance light wise in a lighter and cheaper package

Have you ever shot wildlife? Some things are unpredictable, and you just keep shooting incase if never comes closer, if it does come closer you can stop either.

I think it’s a move to make the d500 the only APS-c for pros, since I can’t see that enthusiasts would need dual slots. Sony is competing with e-mount with only one slot. With fewer AF points and the artificially limited JPEG buffer, Nikon is really saying, if you are a pro and want APS-c (e.g. Wildlife/sports) get the d500. Nikon’s problem in the past, was that they didn’t update the d300 line (now d500), so people bought the d7100/d7200. This now a more direct competitor the Sony a6300/a6500 with the added 4k video & lighter, and Canon doesn’t seem to have a 4k APS-c equivalent.

The D7500 isn’t “the” update to the D7200. It’s a software derived D500 built into a D5600 derived body. If anything it should have been called the D5700. It would be a shame to see Pentax shut shop. I’m not sure this will happen in its entirety but you’ve got to ask….how much can Pentax pair down their already sparse range, it’s not exactly saturated with models. Even if they stop making DSLRs what does this mean for their digital medium format?

Its actually D5700, thats why there is no D73/7400. Its basically a D5000 series with D500 elements

PENTAX entry and mid level DSLRs offer BEST VALUE. Shame that people buy brands not cameras, that’s why Pentax is having trouble.

My guess for only having 1 SD card slot: space saving. The D7500 has many of the D500 features in a smaller body so Nikon had to make space somewhere, so the 2nd slot didn’t make the cut

The problem with the single SD card slot is how they’ve mounted the neck strap. They have moved it lower on the body.
