i picked up my Pentax K3 last November for only $125 with 2 lenses and it has been pretty damn good.
Over priced D5700! 🙂
I shoot with Pentax and have always liked them. I hope Pentax finds a way out of trouble.
I’ve used a D7100 since 2015 and now it started getting stuck pixels from 100-1600 ISO. When I heard that Nikon was making the D7500 I started jumping for joy, and then I started looking at the specs. It’s got the same sensor and processor as the D500 which is great, but that’s where the good stops. One SD slot that’s not SDXC UHS-II, no AI/AI-S metering ring (basically killing the Nikkor/Nikkormat, AI/AI-S and D series lenses), 200 less shots per battery, AND no apparent contacts on the bottom for a battery grip.
I’m saving just a little bit more money to go with either the D750 or the D500, the D7500 is just a parts bin camera…
froto news
Customer is King. Nikon should listen.
The shutter on my D7100 just stopped working tonight. The only reason I’m not getting the D7500 as a replacement is because of the lack of dual SD card readers. That is hands down the ONLY limiting factor for me.
$700 less than an almost identical spec’d D500? for me, the square viewfinder, the 2 frames less per second, and even the solo SD card slot aren’t deal breakers. I mostly shoot live concerts and just want that awesome low light sensor and kick ass 51,200 ISO range. Add to that the smaller, lighter body (compared to the huge D500) & I’m seriously looking into the new D7500.
I think they put only 1 SD card slot was suppose to help with writing speed and with the Bluetooth transfer rate speed that sucks up internal bandwidth.
It isn’t a coincidence this unfortunately.
Pentax Spotmatic II was the first real camera I ever used and in many cases, I remember the camera just as much as the moment. Would hate to lose them!
a used D500 is a far better value ….. only dummies will buy this one …… , they should have released a true D7500 with the D7200 sensor with improved processing the AF/Metering system of the D500, dual card slots a buffer size between the D500 and the D7200, it will sell like crazy…. , it’s lazy release there is no innovation ..nothing
the way Nikon doing business makes people feel they always hold off on their product
One card slot isn’t much of a deal to me. Get a big card and carry spares. You can change them in a heartbeat.
I’ll miss Pentax. My first “real” camera was an LX. I still shoot film through it sometimes
they will probably introduce a 7300
I think what Nikon is doing with the D7500 makes sense to an extent. Before the D500, there wasn’t any real “pro” APS-C camera in Nikon’s lineup. The D7XXX series kind of filled in that gap for a little while. Now that the D500 is available, they probably decided to make the D7500 more akin to their 3XXX, and 5XXX series. At the same time though, it wasn’t a good move considering that they’ve stripped a big feature that was present in the previous models. So if they had actually kept on their more professional crop bodies before the 7XXX series came out, this wouldn’t have been a big deal.
Awesome job Jared and team would love to see more of these.
I would say–from a business perspective–this is the nature of the business. The D7500 is not marketed for us (Nikon crop sensor users already), it is for the new generation of enthusiasts. For “us” who want to upgrade to Nikon’s flag ship crop, upgrade to the D500, which is now the flag ship for DX. “We” must get over it, the 7000 series is no longer king. It is history as is the D90 & D300….
This is RAW Talk Lite.
I’m sure the only one talking about the GoPro thing, but I have an old 3 and 3+ that I would gladly trade in. However, their website is unclear how this works. It says UP TO $100 off. It also says they will authorize your credit card for $0 until they receive your returned cameras, and then will bill you. Does this mean they may find my HERO3 to be worth $50 and I’ll unexpectedly be billed for a HERO5 minus only $50? Seems very unclear. And if I want to trade in two cameras for tow cameras…not seeing clear options for that either.
Pentax; I use the digital medium format system, the lenses for this are spectacular. Low-element count primes that produce exceptional quality images. It would be a shame to loose this from the market.
