I get why people are angry, after all they took away some of the “pro” features found in the D7200. But from a branding/business perspective this makes sense: they just significantly cleaned up their model line. This gives an upgrade path for the casual enthusiast wanting better image quality and pro-like features (but will probably never remove the kit lens or use the second card slot) without cannibalizing their flagship DX D500 which really is aimed at the professional user. Wouldn’t be surprised if they did something similar in the FX lineup.

I personally think they did it completely for a reason. That reason being to force people who were more serious and professional to go for the more expensive d500 because this camera essentially is the d500 with 8fps of Continuous shooting Compared to 10 on the 500 and then the one less card slot. 100% a business strategy to boost sales of the more expensive d500. Bc if it had two. Then why would someone who Is semi pro go for the 700$ more expensive 500 over the 7500

I think Nikon looked at Sony , who only puts one card slot in their cameras and thought “Saving Money”. Don’t they realize that the only reason some , a lot of us, haven’t jumped ship to Sony is because THEY ONLY have one card slot. Bad Bad Bad decision, one card slot is a major disincentive to jumping on the D7500 from either the D7100 or D7200. Now all we need is for Sony to announce their new Full Frame A9 , E mount camera with two XQD slots…and watch the sale of used Nikon equipment start to climb as more of us jump on the Sony bandwagon.. SONY…all you need to do to get my business is two XQD slots , greater than 50 megapixels in the sensor and good low light capabilities and high frame per second shooting speed and I will be dumping all my landscape and astrophotography glass. If I didn’t already have the D5 and D500 for wildlife and the glass for that I’d dump it all. This could be the start the stampede toward Sony given this terrible decision

For me, the only downside is I will never buy the Pentax 645Z since I don’t want to buy something so expensive that will eventually stop being supported. Pity, because it is a great medium-format digital camera.

One less sd card slot is a bad move. But still not have a continuous dual pixel AF for video is terrible.
I love Nikon and have a lot of Nikon gear and I’m seriously thinking to switch to Canon or Sony.

The session 5 is actually better than the hero 5 sure its got less megapixels and has no removable battery but it doesn’t brick itself and is cheaper.
