I’ve used Pentax cameras for over 30 yrs. Some of them were really good but ever since Ricoh took over Pentax things changed and unfortunately not for good.
I completely agree with the author of this review. It’s 2021 and there are less expensive and much better cameras on the market today!
No…flip…screen. If I needed something good for sports/wildlife I might have a look at this if the price point was more reasonable. For Pentaxians who oftentimes got spoiled when it came to value for money (that’s why I bought a Pentax in first place), this price point is quite a bit disturbing. I wonder how it will sell or if it will sell at all. As it stands now, I will happily buy a used K1 soon, pay much less, and have something good to put my old glass on.
You can use your smartphone as the monitor via bluetooth.
Look at the size of Mirrorless lenses!
doesn’t matter what anyone thinks… when you’ve swallowed the Pentax pill you’ll get Pentax because of “reasons”, end of story. I won’t. I swallowed that pill four years ago and finally a year ago threw up.
I totally agree. The revolutionary articulating screen on the K-1 was an expected feature for the K-3 III. It seems like they created a unique patented feature and then decided to not fully exploit it. Bad marketing, branding and disservice to us Pentaxians. The camera is apparently amazing otherwise from all who have actually used it in the field. So sorry Pentax likely had a winner here but likely missed the mark in a rather illogical way.
Good video, from the perspective of someone who knows and uses lot of camera systems. I feel sorry that the wrath of the few (but very active) Pentax fanboys is on you now 🙂
All the focus on the optical viewfinder l find useless unless they have changed the fact that there was too much space for dust and fibers to get inside of the viewfinder totally destroying the experience that was what l enjoyed most about my swap to an EVF.
Look it doesn’t matter what others think.. I bought the k3 III because I love the feel of using Pentax.. the camera has what I want.. others won’t buy it and that’s really fine.. it’s just a tool find the one you like and use it it’s the enjoyment of taking pictures and pictures that matter.. know what suits you best and if you can then get it.. no one can convince me a mirrorless is better for me I dislike evf.. it’s ok I don’t need you to
Ricoh is trying hard to mystify the SLR concept and sell the pentaprism as a noble and supreme achievement. What Leica is doing with the rangefinder cameras. I also notice how Ricoh is flooding Youtube with advertising for the K-3lll disguised as reviews.
The question is, will you rent it to make a real world review?
As a photography expert or a professional who’ve used many systems, I think people will be happy to see you with this camera trying it, using it for at least a month, and give us some thoughts after that.
What do you think?
Why does not Ricoh Pentax develop mirrorless interchangeable camera or system, based on tech of the GR i – iii? Which likely could have an adapter for K mount. Drop K APS-C dslr after that. Maybe with k 3.3 that ship has sailed!
Have you check your blood sugar
3-4 years ago, it would be a world beater..But now? Nah..After years as an ambassador for them, It was like new world when I changed to Sony. But want all the best for them 🙂
This is the most idiotic anti-Pentax (or is it anti-DSLR?) rant I’ve seen in a long time.
The Sony A7iii would be a better comparison than the A7R3…similar spec and price new just ones F2F and mirrorless and the other is APSC with a mirror
Im sorry and don’t mean to be rude but there’s no point rambling on, comparing other cameras etc etc if you haven’t had this camera in your hands 🤷♂️
I fully share your opinion on all points! I’m…was a big fan of Pentax, but I still can’t understand their “new” philosophy…
It’s expensive but if you intend to keep it for at least 5 years well that’s 400 dollars a year some people spend more than that on coffee …
As an owner and user, of many Pentax bodies and lenses. The price is WAY OVER what its worth.IMO 1499 and it’ll sell lots, then drop back to 1249 after a year and it’ll sell lots.@2K it’ll sell to FanBoys and Forumtwits.Poor video specs, no GPS built in, no moveable screen.AF will be better but it was the slowest, so any update is good.
