Is that a zoom, or you are just happy to see me, but this cat at least came to the party. But can it dance? I had the K50 K5 mk.2 and enjoyed both, but so mental on video it was bye bye. Pentax can put a great camera together. Focus was middling with the SAFFOX engine. But is it better than dual pixel af or Sony telepathic focus? Stills you are mental not going for a Pentax. Snowing, raining, and dirty, it doesn’t care. It ain’t no pansy camera that cries when a drop of rain falls on it. Great! Outside is the bees knees. But Like I said. Can it dance. Why buy this? $2000.00 is crazy competitive! I can get many other cameras that will stomp the Pentax in video. Fujifilm XT-4, there that wasn’t even hard. The Nikon Z6 mk.2 is not far off. The Pentax if very good, but is it good enough to be interested by new buyers. Pentax loyalists rejoice and say Hallelujah! Your prayers have been answered. Only took too many years but Ricoh really sucks. Deal! No really Ricoh really really sucks. There is nothing good about this company. I wish frankly that one of the others would have bought the Pentax name and gave Pentax the deserved representation. I know Ricoh more than I want too. Making also schiit copier and printer boxes that you happily push off the back of truck at speed and laugh your A$$ off. Or just plain do a sledge hammer pounding on it. It is just really total crap! Now Pentax has the K1. Brilliant and the 645. Nice. But what have you really done for me lately other than freezing the action. I want great images and video! So Pentax needs to go to a company that doesn’t take f’ing 6 years to get another camera to market. Not cool. I grant the K3 III is an excellent effort and if someone gave me one and said get some pictures and it is pouring out rain, I would say sure! Other than that, as it goes, it is a nice camera but….

Honest review. (There is a law against that now isn’t there?) Great camera, silly price. Needs a 30% haircut to actually sell to anyone but the three guys in their basements with their screw mount lens collections… $1395 USD, I’d preorder one. $995 I’d pre order 2. $2K I’ll just shake my head and watch from afar…

Pentax should join the L mount alliance and make the aps-c cameras. Great way for the dying company to enter the realm of mirrorless.

Reason that dslrs are better than mirrorless = way better battery life , clean bright optical viewfinders, feeling in the hand – body design , the mirror fliping sound makes you feel you hold a tool in your hand not a toy. Cudos to Pentax once again.

Hm. Inject a little personality in videos like this, maybe even a dash of adolescent humour? Am fine with that, I guess, and with Kai, you kinda know what you’ll get. But even a stuck-indoors first impressions video could’ve done with a few sample images, no? As it stands, the video oddly reminds me of Lamar’s line from the movie Gattaca, “Please tell me you’re the least bit excited (before going on a space mission to Titan).”

I remember when Kai mocked the Pentax K-1 which still is a very good camera for photographers. The Pentax K-1 is still the only SR IBIS FF DSLR camera in the world, and for most people, the camera is great even today. The Pentax K-3 III is to be the best APS-C SR IBIS DSLR camera in the world thanks to its excellent OVF. Bravo Pentax.

DSLRs are better than mirrorless IMO. Although I have two mirrorless cameras, I still have most of my fun with my D7200. It’s great to walk around all day with the camera on and not have to change batteries all the time. It could also be the Tamron 18-400mm lens I bought for it and have yet to take it off. All day long with almost any composition I want. Photography is still fun. I’ve never been blessed with a Pentax camera, but it looks like I’d like this one.
