There is virtually nothing on that camera that would make me ‘upgrade’ my 7 year old K3. It has not even a flip screen. A 5 year development project of an APSC DLSR that barely can be called contemporary at a price that would make any sane persons eyes water. I wonder what they are smoking at Ricoh. Thankfully I have other camera systems to work with.

Ricoh, why don’t you listen to your customer base? No-one can believe you left out the swivel-screen. It’s a deal-breaker. And that pointless little mode dial?? Why?

People knock Pentax, not mirrorless, no flip screen (who cares) but they know how to make a great camera. They take care to release a camera that works, functions as intended, will last, and with great image quality. That’s what matters, ignore the hype. Pentax are often the first with features not expected or seen on other cameras.

So while some complain that Pentax is not doing what everyone else is,let’s state some facts.In the mirrorless world,there is nOT that much variety of great bodies.You either stick with Sony,king of full frame mirrorless.Fuji,king of medium format,or you get something like the Canon M50.The FACT is this,that DSLRs have kept Canon and Nikon alive ,with both the Canon 5D mk4 and Nikon D850,out selling ALL of the combined mirrorless offerings by themselves,except for the Canon M50.In the meantime,while these companies make up hype,you get Recalls,crippled cameras,and even got the EasyBake 8k oven,and with Canon,the RF glass is MILES above the quality of the whole EOS body system.I shoot Pentax,the k1mk2,and I already knew how Ricoh doesnt care about hype,yet,they make a camera which is miles above many others in build quality and a full feature set,that makes sense.

I’m really hoping that the price of the body isn’t anything over 1900$. I’m interested in the camera but some other youtubers and reviewers have stated that because of the”upper 200,000″ price range, it might actually be closer to 3,000$. For body alone I’d never pay that. Not even with a lens. Not for an aps c body anyway.

I have the original K-3 and only recently gave up on Pentax and gone with the Z system of Nikon. And boy is it great! Pentax needs a mirrorless crop sensor so I can still use my excellent lenses.

Has there been any indication on whether or not built-in GPS is included? It doesn’t appear to have a pop-up flash, so I’m hopeful, but Ricoh hasn’t said anything about it.

What is wrong with you Pentax?? “thank you for waiting a long time”??? “worth waiting for”??? That is still a prototype for crying out loud where is the real one? You do realize we still don’t know absolutely nothing about the camera, because it hasn’t come out? So we are still (literately) waiting. Oh my goodness Pentax you are so frustrating 🙁

I always feel like people complaining about articulated screens we’re never brought up on real photography they also seem to forget that they have elbows and knees⛄. I guess it’s just too much laziness playing video games smoking weed and ordering Dominos

As much as I like Pentax but if it’s over 2000,- (doesn’t matter if Dollar, Euros or Pound) it won’t fly!

It looks like a solid entry. I do wish it had the articulating screen with touch, however it looks to be a very solid performer despite it. I hope Ricoh/Pentax can still have much success in the coming years.

My dream would be a Ricoh GR with K-mount and flipscreen. I won’t buy a DSLR anymore, especially since Pentax isn’t able to build a viewfinder that is comfortable for eyeglass wearers. Or have they managed that now? Nikon was able to do that already in 1980 with the F3 HP.

I am a fan of Pentax in manufacturing quality and producing excellent images, but the wait has exceeded expectations and years have passed to satisfy the passion of those interested, while other companies produce at least five or six versions of cameras annually !!! In addition to the camera body and the features, it has become another orientation and perspective, with designs and smaller size even with a full frame, Pentax reminds me of Nokia, which was preceded by all companies in the amazing development !!
