Wow! You talk money. I was beginning to believe Pentax users were all wealthy except me. If you have time, take a landscape with tripod, K-70, KP, K-3 III with the same glass. Simple question, is the K-3 image better?
Could you film your next video entirely using 4k on K-3 III?
Great, the first real review of the K3
nice music
I am planning to upgrade my K200D to a K3; are you considering to test the K3 with the “image sync app” (no tilting screen : macro on the ground)

Well really you just convinced me, and I think, I will do a few round trips to Montreal California with my Pete to collect the money to acquire this little gem, thank you again for this field examination. Within 1 month I will be happy owner like you !!!
2 Grand for this anachronistic contraption? LMAO.
As always a down to earth review. Thank you
Regarding the AF, no offence, but I put more faith into reviews by the likes of DPR. It’ll undoubtedly be the best AF in a Pentax DSLR ever, so anyone testing it against another Pentax camera would probably be very happy. If Pentax finally is on equal footing AF-wise with Canon and Nikon now though, that’s good news. ISO 12800 looks very good, but if it’s had NR applied then I’m not sure if it’s entirely fair. Still, from my experience, Pentax is a little bit better than the others when it comes to noise performance.
Thanks, love your reviews.
Hj Lee any chance to see some ASTRO spots thank you
Got my K3 iii delivered yesterday, whole heartedly agree with the assessment. APSC wise, I am moving up from the KS2, which has served me well but the improvements, I expect, are more pronounced than moving form the K3 ii or KP. As for the money? It is a camera I will use and enjoy using so to me that defines value, that and the fact I can use a wide variety of lenses new and old (I love experimenting with old lenses) and share lenses between my K1 ii and the K3 iii 😊 So, for me I have my ideal setup, K3 iii for walking around, quick deployment from a clip on a camera bag strap and if I see something I want to take time to compose the scene or wait for the correct conditions etc. I can stop and deploy the K1 ii on a tripod 👍👍 For me, now everything is just integrated 😁
It’s nice to see some of the advancements made in this camera, and I hope this is a sign that Pentax is going to stick around for a long time to come… I can understand some of the reasons for the screen not moving at all, or no flash, etc.. I just can’t bite at this price point though… and it doesn’t check all of the boxes for me. I’d love to see a K70 Mk2, with some of these AF improvements implemented, as well as retaining the flash and articulating screen, maybe a bit of a video upgrade, and the Aperture Block fixed to use a mechanism like the more high end Pentax models…maybe in the $800-1000 range. I won’t buy a $2000 Pentax body, as I’m not making money from photography, and am unsure how things will go for K-mount in the future…seems 3rd parties are abandoning this mount…so no affordable 70-200/2.8 seem to be available and unlikely chance of many new Sigma/Tamron releases…the Pentax branded 70-200/2.8 is just too spendy in my opinion.
I’d love to have a newer Pentax camera, and 2-3 more K mount lenses, but the issues with K50 and other models having aperture block failure, and Pentax continuing to use that failure of a design in new products, has me turned away from buying another Pentax camera at this point…that and lack/lessening of 3rd party lens support, not keeping even close to on pace with others as far as AF and video features, etc….
At this point, I’m not abandoning hope, this model gives me hope that someday I will have another Pentax DSLR…..but for now I have my eyes on a Fujifilm X-S10 mirrorless, and it may show up via FedEx/UPS in the next couple weeks…their lenses for what I want are priced reasonably well, and seem to get great reviews for quality, the features and price of the camera are what I’m looking for, and the company seems to be right up there with other top companies as far as innovation and quality, so that’s where I’m headed for now…. I will always have a love of real DSLR shooting and Pentax/K-mount , but at this time it just isn’t in the cards …
Please add some samples of movie Full HD and 4K to any web cloud…DNG at iso 6400 from KP and K-3 Mark III
Sure wish you’d shot the video while you were walking WITH the camera!
I like the rotating screen on the K-70 as it is easier to keep clean as my cheek rests against it otherwise. It’s a little thing I know and it is no different to finger marks on my mobile phone, but it is still a feature I like.
I don’t know for sure, but most likely your video editing software is using a JPG embedded in a DNG. The best way to judge raw photos is to download them and view them on a good monitor using PhotoShop or LightRoom (or any other photo editing software). Upload the raw files to some photo sharing site and add links for download in a description.
