I love the screen on the back. Mine should be here sometime next week. Going to put the DFA 70-210 on it and my K3 mark 1 and compare the results. Should be a fun first test.

Great to see the camera in the hands of a real enthusiast. Not one of pentaxs paid goons. Yup totally agree about the screen and new menu system. Looks sharp and very usable. Can’t think why these screens haven’t been on cameras for years. Phones have had them for ages. Oh well. On spec I’d buy the camera but not at this 2000 us or 2400 Canadian. 1400 is where this camera needs to be. I’ll visit this again in a year or maybe Christmas there might be an offer. It will be interesting see what the sales of this camera are in the first year. I’d its good then pentax will know they got it right but if they are poor God only knows what will happen then. It will be interesting to see all your other videos. As for the auto focus I’m not fussed. I’ve never had a problem with it or the frame rate. Iso is always good. The viewfinder has always been more than capable. But yes the screen that the big improvement. Unless astrotracer has been updated? That would be excellent and worth 2000 dollars. 30 seconds is the best I ever get out of the current cameras. To get a true 5 minute exposure would be a knock out of the park move. But thats my wish lol. Keep telling us about it. Good or bad we need to be fed.

The menu looks packed with features! Really looking forward to your AF test video. Would be cool to compare it with the K70/KP when using the PLM on all of them. Like you say, to give it a fair review your going to need more time using it. 👍

Thank you Lee. Great video. Images look really sharp, and your right, they should have promoted that touch screen more. I chickened out last week and bought a used k70 (2000 actuations – £350), as an upgrade to my k30, and after seeing this am starting to think twice. I’ll give it a few months and see. I really like the extra wheels, and the ability to change focus mode with them. Interestingly enough, the only two disappointments with the k70 so far vs the k30, are the position of the AF/AE button for back button focusing, harder to activate one handed than the k30, and the screen quality is to my eyes, not as good. I have used the flip screen a load already though. Thanks again for all your content.
