Thanks for your informative video’s. Love my Pentax cameras and have had the ist-d, K5 and presently have two K3’s. Considering upgrading to the K3 III and the only thing holding me back is the price, A$2800 in Australia! By the way what firmware are you running, notice there is a new Ricoh Imaging update for the Pentax K-3 III to address some minor stability issues present in the original v1.0 firmware.

Thanks for the info, knowing that the subject to distance is within 10 feet (i guess) in this video, would that be easier to tell the focus accuracy of this study by using f5.6 f4 or f2.8 instead of f8 so as to minimize the depth of field factor?

Looks like some further tweaking of the algorithms is required, it looks pretty nifty that you can see the actual PF in post on the screen, I hadn’t used that version of the info screen… I will be doing so from now on when I want to confirm the FP used 👍 I was over on JCristina’s channel and I see the K3 iii has picked up a TIPA award 😊👍

G,day What’s your firmware your using? I just uploaded 1.10 and had a very successful hit rate with my wife. The focus points can be seen in the viewfinder when shooting. She’s not willing to have her photos posted but It does work. BTW I like your channel keep up the good work. I wasn’t going to buy this product as I love my K1 but curiosity got the better of me. Pentax have delivered on this camera its a winner on all fronts. It’s an absolute joy to use, snappy focus with amazing image quality.

Very good Kobie, these videos are very useful. I got min Friday so just tested yesterday. My kids on a zipline. I have tried AFC with selective areas, different size and can not really understand yet how it decide where to focus. Usually I only use spot focus but this should be much different from k3 KP K1 so I want to find out usable settings for tracking. I can only see that tracking works in LV not like the A7III where you can see the tracking points in the EVF. The D500 works similar to this, you really do not know where it hits. Maybe spot is the way to go anyway. Theres is as you say room for updates. I have to do much more testning. The DFA 50mm worked really nice and the 20-40 surpricingly good even with a lot of kakkk kakkk kakkk from the DC motor. I only go in medium fps, more then enough. Next test will be motorcross next saturday with 70-200 f2.8. Long way to go, phu, but camera feels fantastic, like cutting through butter comparing D500 A7III, Olympus and other Pentax bodies. K1 wonderful but this is different.

Anyone having issues with back screen not turning on? I’ve played with some settings but sometimes it won’t come on. When I take an image it dies come on for preview then turns off again.. this only happens occasionally but lasts a while even if I turn off and on again

Just booked a 45min session june 10 with Antonio Ricoh EU. I will use all 45min to discuss and understand the AF system. I have discussed other issues with him when we meet 2019 at SRS microsystems Pentax 100 year event. He convinced me to buy the 15-30mm which I sold one year later so we do not agree on all things but now it will be AF session 100%

My K3-3 Is faulty, it will be changed next week hoppfully. Agreed with Antonio to have the session June 10 as planned if the camera arrives, otherwise we pick another day. He is involved in the change of camera, he looked at my pictures. AF and tracking does not work with any lens and they are bang on with k1 in both AF and tracking.

Sorry but this test is poor ……. why are you shooting at F8 ?? DOF is too much ……. the test should be used with a larger aperture lens ….. many are shooting at F1.4 for portraits ……. F8 makes things too easy …… yet it still didn’t hit the eye !!

Thanks for this and your other videos. I love my Pentax K1…99% of my Instagram feed was shot using it. I have literally left it outside during thunderstorms shooting lightning strikes while I am in the car safe and dry. I don’t hesitate to wade out to shoot seascapes. The weather sealing is amazing. But for portrait work and video, I had to go out and buy a Sony. I like to shoot at f/1.4 a lot. The eye focus has to be sharp. Pentax just can’t get the autofocus right, and it is very frustrating because of how much I like the brand otherwise.

What is the point when you are using F/8? Even without eye af, anything not completely out of focus will look in-focus anyway.

Hi Kobie. Just subscribed. Thank you.. I am on my 2nd Silver. Glass got unbearably hot. On the 2nd one as well. Vendor and Pentax say not had any issues with that at all? If I’m the only one,it’s me. But just turned the 2nd one on,no pics or vids taken.Still HOT?
