So you have a apsc sensor which is 1.5x equivalent to fulframe
Then crop again at 1.7?
Is the megapixel going to reduce?

So, 300 mm x 1.4 TC X 1.7 crop = 714mm equivalent? Theoretically thinking.

Well it seems petaxians get excited about not a lot these days! It’s nice that the k3 3 and k1 mk2 get an update but what about the k70? Oh wait that just got dumped for the kf! This update looks far to little far to late. None of these things would make my k70 any better anyway. I pretty much just use it for astro these days. It’s built like a tank and the sensor handles noise fine. It’s nice to think that the company is doing something for It’s base but really I’m not impressed. The auto focus on my panasonic It’s ten times faster than pentax. And it hits 90 percent of the time. Even at 60 frames a second! So if I want to go fast shooting in the woods I got that covered. Also how many auto focus points are on the k3 3 screen? It looks very sparse. My screen is Jamed pack full of them and I can configure it any way I want. As for portrait and landscape focus point lock that just something I can’t see being used by 99 percent of photographers. It reminds me of the satobi addition. Looked ok but who would use it? It’s just a filter that you can create in post. Let’s see some real improvements. And let’s see the across the board. There’s a lot they could do with the older cameras but that just not good for business in there eyes. Support is now limited to 2 cameras. That’s sad for the brand and the base. That said I’m not parting with my pentax gear. I love it still. Good video kobi but I want a better piece of news from pentax.

Wish they gave the KP some upgrades as well!
A relatively new camera (“new” in pentax terms, as it basically is the 3rd oldest camera in their lineup after the k1ii and k3iii) that got abandoned waay to easy in favour of promoting the k3iii a year ago.

A sad thing for their owners…

ngl, calling these optimisations ‘game changing’ is kinda…. wrong…..

don’t get me wrong, these are good optimisations to add but that’s just it they’re optimisations/minor features. Not really game changing. Still no clean HDMI out, no real tracking improvements overall…

If you have AF Active Area as a Smart Function then you will have to go into the menus and add Small XS manually as there are more AF Area options than SF slots. Also, I just got the new DH DFA 100 Macro this week and the focus limiter function works well as advertised. I added it to the Info Control Panel but you can not assign it to a button or Smart Function.

Especially the XS mode and h/v select options are very handy indeed – I’m not sure I’d call them game-changing, though. That seems like overselling them just the tiniest bit.
Also I’d like to call out that limiting an image mode to soecific versions of specific lenses is just… Silly and unnecessary.
