The chemistry is certainly getting better. Only early November and it’s snowing up there!
Stop calling it Zed! Zed is dead!
This is a well produced video, wow! I thought I was watching a Netflix movie…🎥
you haven’t said any conclusion.
I will never buy a new camera that doesn’t have an EVF. So Z50 it is for me.
Nikon d7500 any day
In the digital age, mirrors do nothing but require the camera to be larger. Soon manufacturers will stop producing DSLRs, as nobody wants additional bulk if there’s no optical advantage to it.
That rugged guy, is he a powerlifter? He looks strong.
Sincerely, a retired powerlifter
Face detection also works in Viewfinder mode. Check custom-setting b4.
Just tell me which camera do you guys used for shoot this video 😊
Beautiful location, beautiful images (best yet from you 2) and best ever video footage. It’s the most comprehensive and intersting review I’ve seen of this camera due to your in-depth approach to these kinds of reviews.
It’s tempting at the price — around $1600CA with the 2 lenses. I considered it for lightweight travel and b-roll. However, the different battery and lack of IBIS convinced me to put that money towards a second Z6.
Incidentally, you’ve convinced me I need to do another winter trip to the Rockies (climbed there lots in my youth).
Canmore area looks absolutely gorgeous in the late fall with that fresh snowfall. A great place to make a comparison video
Fun review guys!! Thanks!!
Wow, an overall a lackluster review with too few shots to show off the image quality of the Z50 by itself. This was a half-hearted attempt at the Z5, which is really a shame. I’m really SHOCKED that Evelyn chose NOT to mention the brilliant EYE-AF that was highlighted in other great in-depth YouTube reviews (like Jared Polin’s). And there was no mention of the lack of IBIS when compared to the competition or the Z6 or Z7. *Lenses like the 50-250mm (75-375mm equiv.) specifically made for the Z50 have VR for 5 stops of stabilization and even the kit 16-50mm (24-75mm equiv.) have VR for 4 stops of IS. That would be useful for those interested in the Z50.* When Dave points out (at 6min30sec) the lack of Headphone jack on the Z50 she says, yeah but there is space for an additional MIC on the hot shoe. (?!) It already has a MIC jack so that is really confusing. Additionally, the advantage of having the Z-mount on this body means a greater convenience instead worrying about multiple lens mounts. This review makes you remember pro’s like Chris Niccols and Jordan Drake. SAD.
Compared with cameras like the D500 or D850, the D7500 is quite a lightweight camera. It’s also smaller than the pro dslr bodys but still fits nicely in the hand. The Z50 lacks the shoulder display of the D7500. Also I’m curious which of the two cameras is better when taking real sports photos like soccer games or marathons. I assume the phase detection auto focus of the D7500 with group focus would win here.
ZEE NOT ZED
z50 a waste of time; once lens is attached its bulky anyway; battery sucks on all mirrorless cameras…instead of developing something new maybe a great pocket camera or super compact no zoom 35mm camera we get this almost useless thing
Ideally I’d prefer to upgrade to the z7, but as money is tight I think the z50 is going to be a perfect little camera for me to get into the mirrorless world. Though if I’m being honest, anything would be an upgrade from my D3400 🤣 still love it though, just want to do more.
I own a Z6 and later bought a D7500. I much prefer using the D7500 so now only use the Z6 when I need it’s better low light performance. The ergonimics of the D7500 are soooo much better. If money was no object I would sell the Z6 and buy the D850. I find having to use the menus so often on the Z6 really fiddly & tedious. For me it was a big mistake to not include the traditional 5 buttons on the left of the LCD screen on the Z6.
