I understand you are giving an unbiased day critique of the z50 but………Having to turn the zoom ring on the lens to activate the lens is no different than a Nikon18-55mm lens with a lock on it. The Z Mount is no big deal because what could you use the extra space for anyway on a camera that’s already small and cramped. Yes this crop camera has the same Z Mount as the full frame mirrorless cameras, but why would Nikon make a full frame and a crop with two different lens mounts…LMAO. They were smart not to. That would make Lens availability even more difficult which was one of the issues you brought up. To top it off you are mentioning the lack of “pro features” in a camera that’s not advertised as a pro camera. Who cares if you have to bring an extra battery or if it doesn’t have a joystick. If you want pro camera features then buy a pro camera. The z50 is a great consumer camera that a pro could use and be happy with its images. The only downside to me is that the z50 is reminiscent of point and shoot cameras which are less than 1/2 the price and doesn’t require buying additional lenses. At least that’s another perspective. Great camera and great review though.

why don’t Nikon just bring out an APS-C mirrorless camera that looks like an old school , roll film , full frame SLR , but behaves a bit like a Z50 ………wait a minute ,they just did !!!!!!! ( hello Nikon Z fc )

I would prefer great ergonomics all time everyday rather than great features. The only reason I’m still not into mirrorless system is how poorly they’ve marketed the miniscule size and compactness and build that up to an essential feature. I hate dinky lill cameras.

Both are good cameras. Personally I prefer the D7500 overall. Battery life is important to me, and the ergonomics works better for me. Plus I don’t need an adaptor to use all my lenses.
I think mirrorless cameras is the future for sure, but in this price range they still has some way to go before I will go all in on them. Maybe in five years or so.
