I’m looking for a camera to replace my old three hundred dollar 2012 Sony Mirrorless camera, I’m struggling with choosing between Sony a7 iii and Nikon d750 d810 something around these prices point (a little up and dow), I’m not a pro shooter but I know how to use cameras, and I mostly shooting photos not videos; I really like all of them but can you help me choose one?
The biggest issue I have is reliability. Pro level DSLR’s are built like tanks. Tried and tested. I got a Fuji mirrorless 5 months ago and it has issues. You can have all the specs you like but if the dammed thing breaks unless you treat it like it’s made of cotton wool (and sometimes for no reason at all) then no thanks.
Great video. I have got the a7ii and a7Riii. It is technically almost impossible to get anything usable with a hand held 1 sec shot. As much as I love Sony the stabilisation reaches its limit somewhere between 1/4 sec and 1 sec.
I had the nikon 850 awesome camera , but switched to SONy and i have both Sony A7R111 and the sony A7111 I Switched because Sony and it’s packing everything and I beleive is just going to get better , GM lenses are sharp as hell.
You two are wonderful.
I shoot the Canon 5D MkIV, Nikon D500, Nikon D7200, and Sony A6000. They all have their strengths and weaknesses, but I enjoy using them all. Oh, and DSLR video is a pain to shoot, which is why I shoot a Canon XF300 for video.
Only one thing REALLY bothered me, you claim the Sony wins the battery part of the competition?? Are you nuts – or you just don’t pay attention when your Sony battery runs out at 6-700 shots??
Is that background fake?
I was ready to drop my 5D Mark III and switch to A7 III, but then you say it has no timelapse mode, just like Mark III. In this day and age?! What a bummer…
I’m a serious amateur photographer who has sold some photographs and currently shoot with a Nikon D90. I know, old out of date crop sensor camera…😃 I’m finally ready to move up to a full frame sensor and realize the future is pointing in the mirror less direction. I shot with a 35mm Nikon back in the 80’s and it was indestructible and dependable. Thank you for your opinions and review. My heart leans toward the Nikon D850 but my head leans to the Sony. It may be awhile before Nikon and Canon release a serious mirrorless competitor, not sure. They’ve been dragging their feet for years. I think it all comes down to how the camera feels, performs, and lasts. The two both produce outstanding quality – it’s simply up to the photographer to see the image. Great cameras in inexperienced hand don’t produce good pictures.
Aaaw, look at that soft background. These two are so in love…with their cameras.
Who has a better repair service?
She whispered “webos”
I’m already a Sony A7R III shooter but just found your video. Very nice review and loved the video quality you two achieved. Real pleasure to watch and easily liked & thumbs-up’able. Just subscribed!
? So Sony has a battery charger on usb?
Come on, Sony for sure, High quality composites you can combine several shots after pixel-shifting
Unless they changed something between the a7s2 and the a73 (which I doubt), when you use a lens with IS it VR, it turns off the in camera stabilization, and vice versa. They systems don’t communicate with each other.
Chelsea is obviously biased toward the Nikon, but hey she’s cute
I would slightly give it to the sony
i would watch software capabilities of cameras. For example i use sony A7. You can set auto ISO. But you can not adjust minumum shutter speed when you select A mode. Do this cameras has same issue ?
