Resale Value … NIKON
Your editing tools don’t have a graphics generator that can draw a box with check boxes?
sony northrup funboy
“oh yeah, we’re using a canon to film this” LOL
Sony Northrup. 😀
Nikon D850, last best DSLR…
Which would you use for weddings
Tony you are just a Sony Fanboi , there is no need to Chelsea to decide the winner camera ! 😉
4.57: ”oh wow, I guess I don’t matter” Chelsea. lol.
Speaking of lenses. Have you heard anything Sigma releasing e-mount zoom lenses this fall to compliment the art prime lenses they just released?
First if you are going to be purchasing either of these two cameras let me say congratulations. Either way you can take the camera out of the equation as to why you got a bad shoot. They are both phenomenal bodies!
For me, I primarily shoot in deep wilderness so overall kit size and weight was most important. I bring the
Sony a7R3 with 16-35GM and 100-400GM (1.4x TC sometimes). I do landscape, wildlife, and astro with this.
Only reservations I had was dust/water, but I came up with a simple solution there.
Then there days like today where I’m doing street photography (just for fun). I just grabbed my a7R3 pair it with either the 50 f/1.8 or 28 f/2. That makes for such a small and light package and doesnt get people intimidated.
As for the feel of the camera in my hands (I have large hands). For portrait and long video shooting I use my Sony battery grip extender. For landscapes and wildlife I use RRS L bracket. But for all other cases (like street) I use the Meike extended grip. At only $53 on Amazon it gives you a place for your pinky and has a built in arca plate on the bottom as well as a 1/4×20. I did have to drill a hole for my Peak Design anchor. But for little weight you can give your right hand a ton of stability and really completes the feel of the camera…
Perhaps in a few years when Nikon has built and perfected their high res full frame mirrorless offering and get a bunch of new key lenses built on the new mirrorless mount I will reconsider.
These are both great cameras; I own and prefer the Nikon D850, but the Sony A7R3 is equally as good. G Master and Nikor lenses are equally as good. The path forward depends on the individual. For example, I am heavily invested in Nikon and not a professional photographer – I would never pay $12,000+ (Body, 14-24, 24-70, 70-200, flash and accessories) for some of the perceived advantages of the Sony. Likewise, it’s unlikely that someone heavily invested in the Sony ecosystem will do the same for the perceived differences in the Nikon system. So, my question is who is this video for, and what’s the purpose of the purely subjective categories and winners? This is not a disparaging comment towards Tony & Chelsea at all, and I am a fan of your videos, I’m just curious.
Please, could you tell me what your setup for this video was. This is simply amazing. You appear so sharp and yet that bokeh right behind you simply looks out of this world.
yep I Guess I am seeing a little Sony Bias from a certain somebody..and as for the USB charging loads of USB chargers out there that will charge a Nikon battery…So that argument is null and void…

Please compare the GH5 vs A7III for Photography and Video. Thanks
So B&H (and I assume Sony) are offering rebates on the a7Rlll. After that and a bonus trade in rebate an a7Rlll would cost me $2K, same as an a7lll. Would you?
To make a case for the Sony you have to revert to talking about video. For pure photography the Nikon D850 wins.
Let’s have a straight out of the camera, same settings, best native lens on each camera, contest and see who wins. No editing of any kind, straight, best quality raw. Remote tether, mirror up, tripod based. Canon’s top two, Nikon’s top two cameras, Sony’s top two, and same with Fuji, (including GFX), and Olympus. Same scenes, time of day, optimal settings, all equally matched as best as possible. Picture quality, color, sharpness, etc. The ultimate shootout. Let’s end the debate. A no bullshit event. How bout it???
Funny, when I do the same comparison between any of my Nikon’s (D5,D500 and D850) on paper the Olympus wins, but most of the time I would rather use the Nikon’s, is there something indefinable that you can’t put on paper, feel, handling, security?
What camera setup did you shoot this video on it looks GREAT
