Hi Tony, Chelsea – you both mentioned what you’d prefer for Wildlife, Night, Portraits, but what’s your preference on Street Photography and Landscape?
Do a freak out video.
another technical and diplomatic video.
You miss the most important reason, why people buy camera 🙂 – image quality – it is not the same, Nik is way better in this case and every profi knows that.
User interface comparison? Thats important too.
2:34 Huevos. 😂😂. That was nice Tony.
It’s all preference. I just shot a large formal wedding and was concerned about the shutter sound my Nikons make but that was a complete non issue. It’s not like you have a, megaphone on your camera. Did not draw any attention to myself and I shot almost 300 pictures in the very large solemn church. Hand held a 70-200 lens at low shutter speeds and got extremely sharp pictures. I think is all preference and I will stay with Nikon because of ergonomics and a proven track record of durability. That said Sony obviously is making some very good cameras.
What’s the difference between remembering to bring a USB charger and a battery charger?
Mirrorless is the future end of story.
Only the new Nikon mirrorless can beat Sony over time, dSRL is still fine, but it’s legacy technology and will be dead in 10 years or so.
Sony is the best in the world right now. Chelsea is not used to shooting with sony and has spent a lot of time shooting with the Nikon and that seems the reason why she doesn’t like holding Sony in her hands, otherwise Sony is a full package (the size included).
Nikon all the way! I just feel they have been at it longer and I have a comfort and expectation level they continue to meet. Most of all, I would produce better end results with the Nikon because it is the Tool that works the best for me. I am pretty much a brand loyalist. Sony could have a better product so do I choose the
better of the two or the one that will work best for me?
Moonpie
For some reason i find the Limited depth of Field in the video distracting.
I’m not a photographer… but for me 2 personal perspectives and experiences are more valuable then reading camera specs.
Tony is a Chauvinist in overriding Chelsea’s picks. A real jerk move.
What about weight? Nikon with camera and lens is much heavier. That’s one of the main reasons I’m thinking of changing to Sony.
I think I just come on here to look at Tony’s hair and Chelsea’s eyes lol
Canon shooter 🙂
The D850 uses contrast detect when focusing with live view and the images are considerably sharper. I’ve tested both focusing systems using a tripod and taking photos of text, the difference is night and day. Contrast detect is much slower, but I found that it’s my ideal setup for taking landscape shots. I also combine that with silent shooting to save some shutter actuations. It’s a perfect setup for landscape shooters.
As is with computing, things change and the leader gets a cherry on top but soon afterwards things switch and the other side is ahead. I like Nikon and have invested in lenses so am caught up in their cameras which all of them are great but I’m used to the feel, button locations, menu placements and features of the Nikon. The new wave is now with mirror-less cameras which Sony clearly is ahead with silent photography and eye tracking but at a steep price. Yeah, for some that’s fantastic but for most shooters maybe it isn’t a deal breaker. Portrait shooters, it’s great. Sports shooters who need super fast continuous frame rates will love the Sony as they have achieved 20 fps! But again, all this will balance out and every manufacturer will have the same stuff in a while, just like computers have done. Maybe it’s more important to get the camera for your type of shooting, learn it well and enjoy photography! Hum, stop and think about how many photographers liked the Leica and it’s simple and … manual, but got the shot.

I prefer Nikon for studio and commercial work and Sony for travel.
