“It depends” 😛
SUPPORT not only was the phone line was disappointing (and I have had a Sony for just over 5 years) but direct repair access was the other thing that really got frustrating. They had closed down their Ontario, Canada location – and have a 3rd party alternative and that was exhausting – So I bought a second hand second body (Sony A57) for my soccer shoot to keep me going while my camera was in for repair (I had a 5 year warranty from Sony at purchase) I am hobbyist photographer and wrote for a local newspaper for 4 + years for sports (with photos) I do have a Sigma 2.8, 200 mm along with Sony lenses and love that lens! As Sony grows – I am hoping that a direct Sony location will open for repairs, etc. Overall – I will choose Sony everytime!
“It doesn’t seem that hard. Honestly!” Chelsea, you crack me up!
For several years now I have had a smaller USB charger made by Newmova for my Nikon D7000, D810, and now D850 batteries. It does not weigh half as much as the wall charge these cameras came with, and about half the size as well. It even charges 2 batteries at once!
That background blur seems unreal!
Sony can win all of them, but RELIABILITY is all the matters! 🙂
Stills: D850 wins.
Video: A7riii wins.
If you shoot a combo of stills and video get the Sony. If you are doing mostly studio work or stills with almost no video get the Nikon.
I would like to differ on two points, 1. Reliability – For me I would anytime prefer Nikon over Sony.
2. Battery for Nikon is far far better than Sony.
Watching this next to my t3i, knowing that I cannot afford either the Sony or the Nikon 😂
USB charging is a minus with lightning storms.
who get the Camera win
Thanks for sharing your experience!
I have few objective issues that are critical for me and are missing from the video.
Sony is missing lossless compressed raw.
Not having it cost in a lot of unnecessary storage space.
Sony don’t have ISO 64 which is Nikon exclusive feature , and it has impact on actual shooting.
Nikon misses Flat profiles in video
That is very limiting serious video work.
Sony has a Pixel Shift mode.
Nikon has super effective automatic focus stacking.
By the end of the day I prefer the Nikon due to its handling …
I tested both and I think you can’t go wrong with either.
Sony DID NOT take out timelapeses. You have to have a better understanding of how frame rate works.
So you can set your FPS recording to 1fps, conform it to 24fps in camera using their new function. And you’ll have a pretty decent timelapse.
At 3:03 that’s Chelsea’s ‘Moose Voice’ 😂
I switched from Sony to Nikon just for the lenses! I got a used d750 with a Tamron 24-70 and 70-200 g1 lenses for $2400 TOTAL! Sony is great but if I wanted an A7iii with a 24-70 and 70-200 2.8 I’m looking at 6 grand! Lenses are way more important for me and live view isn’t a deal braker for me. Let’s see how Nikon mirrorless goes!
“you don’t seem that hard, honestly!” lmao
You are both nice
Go Sony!! Lol
I dislike live view, and having to wear glasses, I hate looking into the Nikon viewfinder…so the Sony is looking nice right now…until…
Thanks for the comparison. I had a similar comparison between the Canon 5D MK IV and the A7RIII. I recently purchased the A7RII and am slowly learning that system, but I still have all of my Canon equipment as well. D850 looks like a great body.
